Can you believe it's August? We're shocked by how quickly this summer has flown by. The old adage still rings true: "time flies when you're having fun" and this summer has been a BLAST at the Museum!

This July we have held 12 programs with just about 900 attendees not including daily museum visits. With an attendance of 327 people, Fourth of July was our most popular event and we won third place in the Adult category for our Root Beer Float parade float! We really enjoyed partnering with Between the Covers for Tomboy Bride Fest which was a hit as well, and we are especially proud of our Free Family Night produced in conjunction with the Wilkinson Public Library, Pinhead Institute, Lone Cone Library, and Town of Telluride. 105 people attended Family Night and everyone loved the interactive stations. We're thinking about hosting a Winter edition. If this interests you, please let us know!

Upcoming we've got a fabulous Hike Into History led by Mountain Trip Program Coordinator and Ophir resident Kaylee Walden. This strenuous hike will explore routes off of Waterfall Canyon and cover such topics as mining history, unique Ophir history, and local flora and fauna.

An Evening with Ken Burns is at the end of the month too. This year we will be showing The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, Episode 5: "The Rising Road." As usual Ken Burns will be on hand to give a short intro before the film and answer a few questions and participate in a book and DVD signing afterwards. Make sure to get your tickets!
