During the July meeting of ITGA's Outreach Committee, it was agreed "Dateline" is either over-used or doesn't reflect our important work. Solution: Tap the creative talents within our membership with a contest to rename "Dateline." The prize: $50 off a Boulder conference registration and some personalized ITGA swag. Specs: Submissions to replace "Dateline" don't need to have "ITGA" in the pitch, but should succinctly capture the essence of our connected work and related news. Deadline is August 14. According to Princeton Review survey that asked 140,000 students at 385 of the nation's top colleges to rate their schools on dozens of topics important to applicants (and their parents), the college with the most highly rated career center in Clemson University. Clemson, where more than 80% of students use its Center for Career and Professional Development, ranked #1 on the "Best Career Services" list-one of 62 categories of The Princeton Review's 28th annual college rankings reported today on PrincetonReview.com.

With a "transition" underway in older industries including energy, a consortium of public and private leaders in the city's technology, aviation, health and bioscience sectors are pushing a plan to turn the Oklahoma Health Center into an economic engine to drive future growth. A two-year study by Chicago-based Perkins & Will concludes implementation of the first phase of its plan that was unveiled Wednesday could create $1.2 billion in annual additional economic impact and generate $423 million in additional annual payroll. A resolution has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Representatives Bill Pascrell (NJ) and Peter King (NY) recognizing September as National Campus Fire Safety Month (NCFSM). This is part of a national effort to raise awareness of the importance of campus fire safety among students, parents and communities and encourage programs to educate students about what they can do to protect themselves from fire. In addition to educating students, the Resolution calls for increasing the level of fire safety in both on-and -off campus housing through the installation of smoke alarms, fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems.
