Talking with Mrs. Tompkins
Dear Delone Catholic Families,

Students have earned a Freedom Friday Dress Down Day for March 26. Thank you to all the families who completed and reported the daily COVID screen. Although restrictions in Pennsylvania and surrounding states may be loosening, we must continue to forge ahead with screening, proper mask wearing and social distancing.

Dress Down Day for Emma Schneider '20
One of our recent graduates, Emma Schneider, recently had an accident in her home that resulted in burns to her arm and face. She is currently in a burn center recovering. Many students and faculty members wanted to help with medical expenses and lodging for her family. Students may make a donation of $3 in homeroom to dress down on Tuesday, March 30. Donations will be accepted in the Main Office for any members of our Delone Catholic family who would like to make a contribution to help Emma and her family.

Easter Break
On March 31, we will follow the virtual half-day schedule, with dismissal at noon. On March 31, the school office will be closed at noon for a staff in-service. Easter Break is Thursday, April 1 until Monday, April 5. Students will return to school on Tuesday, April 6.

Health and Safety Update
We currently have no active COVID cases at the school. This week, the CDC revised physical distancing recommendations to reflect at least 3 feet between students in classrooms. This updated recommendation does not affect contract tracing. If we are alerted of a positive COVID case within our school community, we will continue to trace and quarantine contacts less than 6 feet from the individual for more than 15 minutes based on guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Diocese of Harrisburg. Delone Catholic will continue to follow the COVID-related health and safety procedures as outlined in the school’s re-opening plan as well as seek guidance from the Department of Health and the Diocese of Harrisburg.

Senior Prom and Graduation
The prom committee recently sent out a survey to seniors regarding the prom. Seniors have voted not to have a school-sponsored prom, therefore Delone Catholic does not plan to sponsor the prom this year. We are still working on details regarding baccalaureate and graduation and plan to update you with information as it becomes available.

Reregistration and Course Selection
Course selection is underway for juniors, sophomores and freshmen. If you have not completed reregistration, you will need to do so by April 1. An email with a link to reregistration was sent out on February 22. If you need this email resent to you, please contact Mrs. Jennifer Hart.

This weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week. On this day, we remember Christ's sacrificial death on the cross, praise God for the gift of salvation, and look expectantly to the Lord's second coming. I hope you will join me in saying this simple prayer, which is an excellent springboard for our Holy Week preparation:

Merciful God, as we enter Holy week, turn our hearts again to Jerusalem, and to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Stir up within us the gift of faith that we may not only praise him with our lips, but may follow him in the way of the cross.

May God Bless You,

Virtue=Strength
This week our virtue theme is DILIGENCE - the strength to accomplish tasks with tireless dedication. Diligence is necessary for everything in life. We need to work hard in school, in our relationships, in our jobs … nothing truly worthwhile that lasts is easy. This week, ask your parents or someone else you know who needs help, what you can do to help … clean up something, weed a garden, paint something … and do it for free.

Volunteers Needed for Home Lacrosse Games
The Boys Lacrosse team is looking for one or two volunteers to announce the home and away team lineups, along with running the scoreboard/clock for the home lacrosse games. In addition to announcing the lineups, the volunteers may be asked to announce the names of players who score or assist a score during the game. There are currently a total of only 8 home games over the next 6 weeks, starting with this Friday @ 4:15pm. Every home game begins promptly at 4:15pm EXCEPT for the final game (Senior Night), which begins @ 6:00pm. For students, this would count towards school service hours. Please contact Mrs. Kay Hefner in the Athletics/Attendance Office if you are interested.
