Adult Programs

Are you looking to grow your knowledge and awareness of treaties and treaty issues? Join Julie McNevin, Education Programmer with the Museum of Dufferin on Thursday, November 4 at 7 p.m. for a virtual presentation and discussion on ancestral and treaty lands in Dufferin County. Register to receive the Microsoft Teams event link.

Commemorate Remembrance Day on Monday, November 8 at 7 p.m. with a special presentation with LCol Trevor Cadeau. Register to reserve a spot for this in-person event at the Mill Street Library. Please note a vaccine certificate is required to attend all in library programs. A recording of the presentation will be released on YouTube at a later date.

Orange thREADs: Enjoy a virtual conversation on Tuesday, November 16 at 1 p.m. Get reading recommendations and share your passion for fibre arts. Register to receive the Microsoft Teams event link. Orange thREADs meets the third Tuesday of each month.

Storytelling Series: An Octogenarian, storyteller, and member of the Headwaters Writer's Guild, Clare McCarthy will reflect on the lighter side of his past 82 years on Thursday, November 18 at 7 p.m. Register to reserve a spot for this in-person event at the Mill Street Library.

100% Certainty Book Club: Join Orangeville Public Library and Hospice Dufferin as we read, converse and work together to lessen our discomfort facing death. The featured book is "The Light Between Oceans" by M. L. Stedman (a copy is provided upon registration). Please register to receive the Zoom link for the book club discussion on Wednesday, December 2 (1:30 to 3 p.m.).

Storytime Fun

Virtual Storytime on Tuesdays

A new storytime is released every Tuesday at 10 a.m. on OPL's YouTube channel. Shannon will share stories, songs and provide early literacy tips to get your little one ready to read.

French Storytime

Join special guest M. Peter LeBlanc for a French storytime to commemorate Remembrance Day on Thursday, November 11 at 10 a.m. on OPL's YouTube channel. A retired teacher & principal, M. LeBlanc has called Orangeville home for over 25 years.

Stories in the Park - Toddlers on the Go and Infant Time

Dress for the weather! Enjoy outdoor storytimes on Mondays (Cedarstone Park, 54 Quarry Dr.) and Wednesdays (Village Green Park, 48 Hewitt St.) Toddlers on the Go starts at 9:30 a.m. and Infant Time (babies) at 10:30 a.m. Please register with EarlyON on a weekly basis.

Tweens and Teens

November 15 and 29 Workshops

In partnership with Youth Educators at FTP, the library is offering in-person self-esteem workshops for youth ages 13 to 17. Workshops are on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Mill St. Library - Register here. Proof of vaccination is required.

Teen Advisory Group

Get involved with your library. Join Tanis on Friday, November 12 at 4:30 p.m. for a virtual Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting.

Teen-led discussion of recent hot reads on Friday, November 19 at 4:30 p.m. This month will feature Sci-Fi novels.

Tween Club

Join Nicole for Tween Club on Monday, November 29 at 4 p.m. for games and crafts all about friendship.

Big Library Read - From now until Nov. 15, the book and audiobook of "Five Total Strangers" by Natalie D. Richards is available to download from Libby without waitlist or holds. This thrilling novel about a road trip in a snowstorm that turns into a bone-chilling disaster will keep you guessing until the very last page. Register to attend an author book chat on Monday, November 8 at 2 p.m. Readers also have a chance to win a tablet, Libby swag and signed books by the author if they use #biglibraryread on social media from November 1-15.

Homebound Delivery - the library offers a delivery service for individuals who cannot make it to the library due to illness or mobility. You can sign up for the winter months. Find out more.

Newspapers - The Toronto Star, Globe and Mail and National Post are now available at the Mill Street Library. PressReader has same day issues, including the Toronto Sun, for reading on the go.

Vaccine Certificates and the Library - Find out more - Library staff are happy to help with printing your proof of vaccination certificate at no charge.

Alder Hours - Monday to Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Library Closures - Both locations of the library will be closed on Monday, November 22 for staff training.
