DO SOMETHING!

A Note From Pastor Linda

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
(Romans 22)

Dear ChURch Family,

I went to bed on Saturday evening with a heavy heart... a mass shooting in the quiet community of El Paso, Texas. I woke up early Sunday morning to see another report, this time out of Dayton, Ohio. More violence, more death. How could this be? Is this a bad dream? Helplessness, defeat, despair... now what!

On Sunday we entered the texts of terror in the Book of Revelation- divine visions of a world without God- a WAKE UP call to DO SOMETHING!! Resist, stand firm... keep following the Lamb.

I have heard it and read it:
We know the emptiness of the phrase "thoughts and prayers". Why bother? It is not enough!

While it might seem fashionable to dismiss the idea that in the face of evil prayer matters, it is Jesus who responds differently:
Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, "Why couldn't we cast out that evil spirit?" To this Jesus replied, "This kind can be cast out only by prayer." (Mark9)

Prayer is the task of the church... as is ACTION. Social involvement and spirituality can come together, in fact they must. It's called the Micah mandate (Micah 6.8):
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you? To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.

Rise up church! Do something. Begin with prayer. One act of kindness is a beginning. Do justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly with God.

Be the chURch... Because UR!

 ~Pastor Linda

Prayer Requests

At Hosanna, a person remains on the prayer chain for two weeks. However, in cases of long-term illness, hospice, or by request, the members of the prayer chain will pray for a person and/or situation in need, as long as requested.
Keep an eye out for our new "Prayer Page" on our website for online prayer requests!
