Summer Reading Ice Cream Celebration with PAWS!

For kids who participated in the summer reading program:

This fun event recognizes all your hard work!  Get your reading certificate, get your free book, eat ice cream AND hear a story read by our very own local WWII veteran, Mr. Quinlan and acted out by the Tiger's mascot, PAWS!  

If you are planning on coming, please call 248-846-6550 and let us know!  This event is free, but a head-count is appreciated.

The Friends of the Springfield Township Library sponsored the kids and teens summer reading programs through the purchase of book prizes, treats and super fun family events.  The Friends are a nonprofit group that is open to any who would like to participate.  

THE NEXT FRIENDS MEETING IS SEPTEMBER 10TH AT 1:00 IN THE LIBRARY.  The meeting is open to any interested person who'd like to attend.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT

This is an early literacy program that is fun for everyone!  It is put on by Oakland County for babies/toddlers, birth to 3 years old.  Please call 248-209-2520 to register.
Family Movie Day
All Ages!
Thursday, August 15 / 1:00

Showing the animated family film: Wonder Park  (PG) 
The movie runs 1 hour and 25 minutes long.

No registration necessary.  No cost.  
Come watch a movie on the big screen with the whole family.  Fresh popped popcorn will be served!
Family Book Bingo
Thursday, August 22 / 6:30PM

Fun for all ages!  Everyone who gets a bingo, gets to pick a free book prize.  Books for all reading levels will be available.  This is a no cost, fun way to spend time with the whole family!

No registration necessary.

Fall Used Book and Homemade Bake Sale 

Wednesday, Sept. 4th - Friends Member Pre-Sale / 5:30 - 7:30 / memberships available at the door for those who want to participate.

Thursday, Sept. 5th / 10:00 - 8:00 / General Public Sale
Friday, Sept. 6th / 10:00 - 6:00 / General Public Sale
Saturday, Sept. 7th / 10:00 - 12:00 / General Public Sale: Bag-of-Books for $5.00!

Get a great deal on a used book or delicious baked good!  In addition to books, we have homemade baby items, book crafts, DVDs, and other items.  All proceeds go toward library materials, equipment or events. 

If you'd like to get involved, there are a variety of ways you can do that:
- Get a Friends membership.
- Bake a homemade baked good for the sale.
- Volunteer to help with the sale. 
- Donate GENTLY used books in good shape.
- Shop at the sale!

Book Club
Join us for this fun and informal book club!  We meet the 4th Thursday of the month at 1:00. Pick up the book from the checkout desk, read it, and come share your impression.

Informal friendly group!  No registration necessary!  Come share what you're working on.  Knitting, quilting, crochet, cross-stitch, or any other needlework welcome.  
Library Board Meeting
Tuesday, August 20 / 6:00

Library Board meetings are open to the public and take place at the library.  This meeting is a public hearing and will take place in the Civic Center Meeting Room.  Note: the time of this meeting is 6:00.  The meetings are normally at 7:00.
