SDSG in the Gunnison Basin
and Around the World!
|
|
We are enjoying a beautiful and eventful summer at SDSG! We marched in a festive 4th of July Parade in Crested Butte, Colorado and gathered with friends and neighbors in Gunnison. We celebrated our communities, the blossoming wildflowers and beautiful mountains all around us, and our gratitude to work with colleagues in our Colorado communities and across the globe to advance our
mission
for sustainable development. In this newsletter you will read updates on our recent work in Canada, Ecuador, Honduras, the United Kingdom, and beyond. Thank you for taking time to stay in touch with us. You give us so many reasons to celebrate!

IGF members may request to undergo assessments of level of implementation of the MPF, and participate in capacity building programs to address areas where implementation gaps are identified. Each MPF Assessment includes desk-based review of country reports, law and policy frameworks, and literature, as well as field visits to interview government, civil society, industry, and other key stakeholders regarding implementation of the country’s law and policy framework. The Ecuador Assessment is now available in Spanish at

10 Simple Ways to Be More Sustainable Today!
|
|
- Say no to single-use disposables! Bring your own bag, coffee mug, water bottle, and cutlery. Just say no to plastic straws!
- Buy less. Buying more than we need creates endless waste. Buy only items made to last. Consider environmental and social impacts.
- Buy locally and grow your own produce. Support local farmers and businesses and reduce the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. Join a community garden or grow produce at home.
- Improve your transportation habits! Carpool, bike, use public transportation, walk, and take the stairs. Take a “staycation.”
- Opt for cold water at home. Heating water uses substantial energy. Wash clothes in cold water. Take a colder shower and keep it short!
- Increase energy efficiency: Use wind and solar, proper insulation, energy-saving windows, efficient heating and cooling, energy-saving lightbulbs, and turn off lights and appliances when not in use
- Adopt an Earth-Friendly Diet: Eat more meat-free, plant-based, organic meals and plan wisely to reduce food waste.
- Compost unavoidable food waste.
- End junk mail! Put a “no junk mail” sign on your mailbox. Opt out of paper mail.
- Educate yourself and support organizations that promote sustainable development! Learn more at www.SDSG.org.
