Let Us Worship Together
Join us for worship this Sunday at 10am (or watch it later) on our YouTube channel (Kevin Cameron) --- a pre-recorded worship experience. We will send you the link on Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning.
We will continue our journey with Jesus and the disciples in Matthew 14:22-33. Jesus is praying alone on the mountain. The disciples are in the boat when a storm comes up. Jesus walks across the lake to them. They are frightened - and then encouraged by him. There’s more walking on water, some additional trouble and some rescuing. The sermon title is ‘Sinking and Rising’.
Tell someone about our worship services and help them find us!
You can find many of our worship services and mid-week meditations of the last several months on our YouTube Channel (Kevin Cameron) or on Facebook.com/ParkwayUnitedChurchOfChrist under videos.

Video
This 2 ½ minute video will help you get ready to be on the boat with the disciples in this Sunday’s gospel lesson. (Iris created this for MAD Camp last week – our PUCC version of VBS. This year was on Zoom – what a great week! Thanks again to all involved!)

Inspiration
This weekend would have been the Closing Ceremonies of the 2020 Summer Olympics. They have been rescheduled for July 23 - August 8, 2021in Tokyo.
We wanted to share this stirring 90 second spot with you because of where we are now.
Humor
A boat carrying red paint and a boat carrying blue paint crashed into each other. The crews were marooned.

Where do boats go when they get sick? The Dock.

Prayer for Beirut by Maren Tirabassi, UCC Pastor

Holy One of mercy and peace,
as you walked across the stormy sea
so long ago, walk in the rubble
of your great city Beirut.

Hold tenderly all who mourn today
loved ones who have died
and those who are waiting
for identifications,
and for those who are missing
to be found.

Be among those who care
for the wounded,
and those who try to cope
with this catastrophe
in the midst of the struggle
ongoing with covid-19.

In the chaos of broken buildings
and the aftermath
of the terrible rain of glass,
give moments of hope,
the welcome kindness of neighbors
and the generosity of the world.

To the re-construction
of the city itself, bring courage
and to the equally long
reconstruction
of the confidence of people
so de-stabilized, bring peace,
for we pray,
in all your holy names. amen.

Habitat for Humanity St. Louis
Due to the pandemic, there are currently no construction volunteer opportunities available. However, our local Habitat staff continues to finish the 5 homes in the La Saison neighborhood, and will then move on to 5 new homes in the Gate neighborhood.
The need for financing still exists. Through the generosity of two anonymous donors, your gift to Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis can go twice as far! From now through August 31st, gifts made by donors like you will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $40,000 - that's a total of $80,000 we can potentially raise with your help!
Remember: in order for your gift to count toward the match, you must give directly to our local office at 3830 South Grand Blvd or make your gift online at www.habitatSTL.org. Thank you for helping us make the most of this fundraising opportunity, which translates to affordable housing for families in need, right here in St. Louis.
