NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENT
WANTED: MENTOR FAMILIES for our INCOMING SBMS STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Remember when you and your family were brand new to SBMS? Remember that friendly email or invitation you got from a current SBMS family with an offer to connect over the summer? To share a cup of coffee or enjoy a family beach day or a backyard barbecue?
Now it’s your turn …. we are looking for MENTOR FAMILIES to help usher in our newest SBMS family members.

What does it entail? We ask our Mentor families to connect with their new families at least  one time  before the start of school and to stay closely connected throughout the first part of the school year — offering words of SBMS wisdom about the bike trips, the HUB, electives, navigating the SBMS culture, and more. Email  Sue  if you are willing to mentor a new family. We need you!
FROM THE LIBRARY
ALL SBMS LIBRARY BOOKS are NOW DUE
Click here for a List of Students with Outstanding Books. A replacement cost will be charged for any/all books that are not returned before Friday, June 14, 2019. Thank you!

SBMS Great Reading for Grown-Ups!
Sharing our experience and questions around reading Tara Westover’s EDUCATED made an interesting and compassionate discussion-to say the least! The bonds and boundaries of family, courage, forgiveness, love, anger and self-love were central themes. How does someone enter a classroom for the first time and it is at the college level? How does one reconcile overt familial cruelty? How does anyone navigate such treacherous waters? To quote Tara Westover: “You could call this selfhood many things. Transformation. Metamorphosis. Falsity. Betrayal. I call it an education.”
