Opening Chapters: Lobbies Open for Pick-Ups
As of June 22, the lobbies in our buildings are open for you to pick up and check out your holds. We are limiting the number of people in the buildings at any one time and are maintaining safe social distancing measures; curbside pickup is still available during this time. In addition, all staff members are wearing face masks and we encourage customers to do the same. You can visit our website to explore some Frequently Asked Questions , which we continually update as we move into each new stage of reopening. Our hours during this time are:

  • Downtown Bend, East Bend, and Redmond Libraries: Monday–Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. for immunocompromised individuals and those aged 60+)
  • La Pine, Sisters, and Sunriver Libraries: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • All libraries are closed on Saturday, July 4
Summer with the Library Starts July 1
The weather is heating up, and that means it's time to celebrate Summer with the Library ! During July and August we're using the popular Beanstack app to take our summer reading program online for the first time ever. We invite library customers of all ages to track reading milestones and take part in fun activities for a chance to win great prizes. Sign-up begins on Wednesday, July 1 . To take part, download the Beanstack app through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android), or access the Beanstack website from your computer’s browser. Summer with the Library (Verano con la Biblioteca) is also available in Spanish.
Listening to Voices in Our Community
We have a new page up on our website that gathers a vast selection of materials and resources to help you explore and engage with current and historical issues. We encourage you to discover your voice and to listen to the voices of others within your community, and beyond, as they share ideas, concerns, and aspirations. From anti-racist reading lists to books and documentaries on our country's history, as well as historical databases and virtual programming, these resources are freely available to all Deschutes County residents. We will continually update and add to this page's resources. See below to view some of our book lists and learn about upcoming programs.
