Dr. Debra Olbrich will be presenting Leptospirosis: Considerations in Disease Etiolby, Diagnosis and Prevention and Ticks- Know your Enemy at 10:00 am. Eat lunch during the presentation and be done to golf at 12:30 pm. Sponsored by Merck Animal Health. 

Registration includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, 2 hours of CE, two drink t ickets and door prize. Prizes will be awarded for top golfers as well as hole prizes.

Veterinarians Invited to Attend Foreign Animal Disease Workshops
Veterinarians and their pork producing clients are invited to register for a FREE workshop hosted by the Iowa Pork Industry Center in collaboration with the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

TOPIC: Is your farm ready for a Foreign Animal Disease? How to become Secure Pork Supply Ready

Workshops and webinars
FAD Prep 101: What to expect during a foreign animal disease outbreak. Learn about the producer preparation resources in the SPS Plan. (2 hours; in person or webinar).

FAD Prep 201: Learn about the resources in the SPS plan and how to apply it to your individual farm. (3 hours; FAD Prep 101 is a prerequisite).

Workshop dates and locations in Iowa
All workshops include FAD Prep 101 from 10:00 a.m. to noon and FAD Prep 201 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. There is currently no charge to attend.

The workshops have been approved for 5 CE credits (2 scientific/3 management).

Make the Trek to Discover Your Purpose in Veterinary Medicine
The Veterinary Leadership Institute has announced a new personal development CE offering - Trek: An experiential journey to (re)discover your purpose in veterinary medicine . Similar in framework to the Veterinary Leadership Experience (VLE), this event is tailored to the veterinary professional with relevance to every stage of the career path.

You are invited to beautiful Ross Point, Idaho September 23-27 for this 5 day immersive experience where participants will explore and develop individual capacity for resilience and well-being, deepen an understanding of personal and servant leadership, emotional intelligence, communication skills, conflict management, and self-care strategies, and engage in peer-to-peer collaboration and community building through an evidence-based, highly interactive curriculum involving an array of learning formats.

Come Support IVMA and ISU CVM's Steer at the Iowa State Fair
If you are headed to the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, August 10 th , stop into the Pioneer Livestock Pavilion at 2:00 pm for the Governor’s Charity Sheer Show

The IVMA and Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine are again sponsoring a steer in the annual steer show. The IVMA’s celebrity show person this year will be Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Dean Dan Grooms.

This year’s steer is “Ernie” and he was raised by Quinton Grove of Ellsworth. Quinton will be a senior this fall at South Hamilton High School.

Registration books for the 137th IVMA Annual Meeting are in the mail and registration is open!

This is the last Annual Meeting before the next licensing period deadline of 6/30/2020! Most Iowa veterinarians will need 60 CE hours by this deadline.

Youth Mentors Needed in Central Iowa
Community Youth Concepts in Des Moines is looking for veterinarians to be mentors for students interested in a career in veterinary medicine. The Mentor Advantage Program is a career-based mentoring program that matches middle and high school students with professionals based on the youth's career interests.

Mentors are asked to meet with their youth for at least 4 hours/month for 1 year. Activities can be veterinary based or other social or educational outings (movies, walks, college visits etc).

They are in need of a male mentor for a 14 year old boy in the West Des Moines area and a female mentor for an 11 year old girl in the Saydel area.
