City News
As a city government, it is our responsibility to protect our community’s health, safety, and welfare. A city accomplishes this through the adoption and enforcement of ordinances, by powers granted by the state. Ordinances are considered local law. These laws govern matters that meet the individual needs of each city in addressing local concerns not regulated by the state or federal government.

  • High Grass (ORDINANCE NO. 2020-015): Grass should not be higher than 12 inches tall. This includes front and back yards and does not apply to properties that are:
  • Two or more acres, and
  • Under single ownership, as long as
  • The area is over 100 feet from a public street or
  • Over 100 feet from an adjacent property where a dwelling is located and is under different ownership.
  • Parked or Stored on Unapproved Surface (CHAPTER 18 – TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES, ARTICLE IV. – STOPPING, STANDING, AND PARKING, Sec. 18-110 ½ ): Parking or stopping of a vehicle on a residential lot’s front or side yard must be on a concrete or asphalt surface. This applies to private property less than five acres in size and used for single-family residential purposes. It does NOT apply to single-family residential properties 5 acres or more or properties that have pre-existing driveways.
  • Junk Vehicle (Chapter 18 – TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES, ARTICLE V. – JUNKED AND ABANDONED MOTOR VEHICLES, DIVISION 1. – JUNKED MOTOR VEHICLES, Sec. 18-136): A Junk Vehicle is defined as a self-propelled motor vehicle located in any place where it is visible from a public place or public right-of-way and has an expired license plate, and is
  • Wrecked, dismantled or partially dismantled, or discarded; or
  • Inoperable and has remained inoperable for more than:
  • Seventy-two consecutive hours, if the vehicle is on public property; or
  • Thirty consecutive days, if the vehicle is on private property.
  • Open Storage (ORDINANCE NO. 2020-015): Properties should not be used for open storage. Items considered as open storage are icebox, refrigerator, stove, glass, carpet, upholstered furniture, tires, auto parts, building materials, building rubbish, or other similar items. It is the responsibility of the property owner or occupant to keep the premises clean and in compliance with the code.
  • Accumulation of Brush/Limbs (Chapter 10 – HEALTH AND SANITATION, Sec. 10-28): Weeds, brush, limbs, trash, or similar items should not be allowed to accumulate on your property. It could become a fire hazard or become hazardous to the health of those living around you. The accumulation of such items is considered a public nuisance. This does not apply to properties that are:
  • Two or more acres, and
  • Under single ownership, as long as
  • The area is over 100 feet from a public street or
  • Over 100 feet from an adjacent property where a dwelling is located and is under different ownership

Solid Waste Reminders
Cart Placement
Did you know there is a right and wrong way to put out your trash and recycle carts? These are established through solid waste ordinance 2018-009 which can be found here. Carts should not be placed out any earlier than noon the day before your collection day and should be removed from the road before noon the day after your collection day. You'll find more helpful reminders on what you should and shouldn’t be doing in the graphic below.
Bulk/Brush Dates 2022
Bulk/Brush Day is a monthly service held on the first Saturday of each month unless a holiday moves it to another Saturday. This service is for residential customers only. (Materials from contractors or business owners are not allowed.) You must show proof of residency to access the site. A 40-yard roll-off is provided for bulk items while brush remains on the ground. Bulk items MUST fit inside the containers, so please bring enough people to help dispose of the items. If the items do not fit in the container, you will be required to take them with you. No hazardous material is accepted, including household chemicals, paint, electronics, tires, etc.

Additional Solid Waste Services
Waste Management doesn’t just collect your trash and recycling. They offer additional services that are included with your solid waste bill. Services include:

  • At Your Door Special Hazardous Waste Collection®: Waste Management provides Robinson residents with front-porch service to collect the sometimes hazardous and hard-to-recycle items that almost every household accumulates. Waste Management will collect several items that don’t belong with your recyclables or regular curbside waste pickup. More information.
  • Bulk/Brush Curbside: You can also set bulk/brush items at your curb that will be picked up on your normal collection day. It’s an easy way to get rid of bulky items that are too big to fit in your regular trash. More information.
Blue Santa
Our citizens are amazing! Thanks to your generosity and donations to Blue Santa, the Robinson Police Department was able to give 105 kids a Christmas they otherwise wouldn't have had this year.
Option One

The city is providing a roll-off dumpster for residents to dispose of their trees. The dumpster will be located on Strauss behind the Police Department and should ONLY be used for real Christmas tree disposal. Please do not dump artificial trees in the dumpster.
Option Two

Utilize bulk/brush curbside pickup (this is included with your solid waste services). If you choose this option, make sure the branches are no greater than five inches (5”) in diameter and are cut, tied, and bundled in five-foot (5’) lengths. Leave at your curb on your regular collection day, and Waste Management will take it.
Option Three

Bring your tree to one of our monthly Bulk/Brush Days. These are held on the first Saturday of every month (unless a holiday bumps it to the following week). The next Bulk/Brush Day is January 8th from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 5158 South 12th Street, Robinson, TX. You will need to show your most recent water bill and pay a fee of $10 for each trip.

Recycling is picked up every other week on your designated collection day. Can't keep track of which week is a recycle week? Download the Recycle Coach app today and never miss recycle week again!
Bulk/Brush Day is January 8th from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5158 South 12th Street, Robinson, TX. City staff will NOT be available to help place bulk items in the containers so make sure to bring enough help to get items in the 40-yard roll-off.

Reminder: customers have the option to set bulk/brush items at their curb to be collected weekly, during their normal collection day. For hazardous materials, customers may use the At Your Door Special Hazardous Waste Collection offered monthly with their Waste Management services.
January 9th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. We encourage everyone to take this day and thank our hardworking and dedicated police officers for all they do.
