Start Your Week with Crossroads
October 19, 2020
Crossroads provides resources to support your spiritual growth throughout the week and offers you opportunities to connect to a warm, welcoming, and affirming community.
Feel free to share any of the resources with family and friends!
Together Into the Unknown...The Great Adventure Continues
During the month of October Larry Thompson, our Interim Pastor, is sharing a series of inspiring messages entitled, Together into the Unknown...The Great Adventure Continues that will help us catch a glimpse of the new things God is doing in and through the Crossroads community. Together we are entering a new chapter in the Crossroads story as we continue to share God’s unconditional love with the world.
If you missed yesterday's service, you can watch it here.

Small Group Reflection Guide
We designed a special small group reflection guide for the current message series. If you are not part of a small group, you can share these reflections with a friend, do them as a couple, or as a family with older children and teens. Or you can spend time going through the reflections by yourself.

To get connected to a small group, email Deborah Michel.
Monthly Outdoor Gatherings for Middle and High Schoolers
Thanks to all who came out for our Middle School Meet Up last Tuesday! We had lots of fun! We have two more opportunities to gather safely in person on the Crossroads Lawn!

All are welcome, but pre-registration is required. Please bring your mask, meal or snack, and a picnic blanket and/or chair. All of our games and activities will meet social distancing regulations.

Email Erin Videgar-Laird with any questions.
Annual Thanksgiving Day Run is Virtual!
Keep your tradition streak alive and run with us on Thanksgiving Day or sometime throughout the holiday weekend! You can do so from wherever you will be spending Thanksgiving!

Choose to join us at the traditional time and day - Thanksgiving Day, November 26 at 8:15 AM from your own front door and use our RaceJoy technology to "run together" with friends, and family! Or take advantage of the ability to sleep in on Thanksgiving, and choose to run anytime through the holiday weekend. November 26 - November 29!

We know you struggle every year deciding if you should do the 10k, the 5k or the 2k, well this year, you can do them all! Choose to run our virtual Thanksgiving Feast challenge which offers ALL the distances! This challenge will have you working off your second (and third) helping in no time!

Sign up for a Listening Session with Larry Thompson!
If you haven't already, we invite you to sign up for a time to attend one of the listening sessions being offered in October and November so that Larry can hear from the Crossroads community.

Here are the questions Larry is asking:
  1. What is one thing I need to know about this church?
  2. What is one way we are going to reach new people?
  3. What is one dream you have for our church?
  4. What is one thing you are afraid I might do?
  5. What is one question you’d like to ask me?

Crossroads Kids @ Home!
We miss seeing your smiling faces on Sunday mornings at the church and invite you to join us for a virtual experience called Crossroads Kids @ Home! Each week we'll meet for an exciting, interactive time where parents with children can join from home for bible stories, prayer, songs, crafts, and time to get to know each other.

This will be a phased roll-out of age appropriate activities, starting with a focus on early elementary students (recommended for Kindergarten through 3rd grade children and siblings). Click here to find out more or email Jill Wiggins with any questions.

Register here for the next gathering on October 25th at 9:30 AM. You will receive a confirmation email with a password protected link to the zoom meeting with further instructions. Additional meetings and offerings for other age ranges will be available soon on our church website and in the Heart and Home Newsletter.

Warming the Homeless -Coats and Boots
Crossroads is once again gearing up for our Annual Warming the Homeless, “Coats and Boots” mission. Coats and boots will be distributed to the DC Downtown Day Services Center and the Loudoun County Shelter. Your family can get involved by donating new boots sizes 8-13 (we’ll need a few 14-15) as well as jackets/parkas (90% men apparel) in LG through XXXLG. You can leave coats and boots in the designated boxes outside of Entrance One at the church.

You can also make a monetary donation to Crossroads marked “Warming the Homeless” by mail or on our website. All donations are tax deductible. The deadline is October 31st.

The FORTitude Teen Meet-up is a virtual space created for teens to connect, share, and learn about protective strengths they can use to help them through tough times. Together we will discuss how they can help themselves and others and allow them to share what coping skills they're using during this challenging time and identify the positive protective factors they have in their own lives.

Session time will include a game, sharing, and discussion, led by Sources of Strength trained staff from the Ryan Bartel Foundation.
