Family Scavenger Hunt -  on  Saturday, August 3  from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, at the William P. Faust Public Library, 6123 Central City Parkway, Meeting Rooms A and B. Here's your chance to participate in this popular annual competition - registration is open! Each family will get a list of items to find around the city.  Figure out where you can find the items, drive there safely, and then take a picture (on a digital or phone camera) with your family in it.  Once you have taken a picture with all the items on the list, come back to the library to get a prize.  There is no time limit, but the sooner you make it back, the greater choices you have for a prize (one prize per family)! You will need a car, a camera, and your family. It will take between 45 minutes and 90 minutes. We recommend not bringing children younger than 5, as the hunt involves getting in and out of your car multiple times.  Also, you may want to show some team spirit and pick a family color to wear!  PLEASE REGISTER ONLY ONCE USING A FAMILY NAME; click on "Group", and include the number of family members attending. For more information, please visit  www.westland.lib.mi.us.

Westland is well-known as the premier destination for shopping and dining in Wayne County with hundreds of shops and restaurants anchored by the Westland Shopping Center, one of the country's original four regional malls.

Infinite opportunities are available in Westland for the recreation aficionado including, more than 40 parks and 1,500 acres of trails, a 9-hole golf course, hockey arena, athletic fields, playscapes, a Farmers and Artisans Market and more.  One of Michigan's most environmentally friendly cities, Westland has a progressive curbside recycling program with one of the highest participation rates in the nation and the City is raising the bar for cultural experiences with the placement of public art throughout the City.

The City is served by two public school districts; Wayne-Westland Community Schools serving 12,000 youth was recently named one of the Best School in Michigan by WXYZ-TV and is the proud recipient of 14 Golden Apple and two Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards.  Livonia Public Schools, educating nearly 15,000 students, is proud of their MEAP/MME scores that exceed state averages and the District has also earned Golden Apple and Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards.
