Nissan Dealership - Amended EIR Recirculation

The Board of Supervisors approved the Environmental Impact Review (EIR) for the Nissan dealership on the corner of 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive in the summer of 2018. The EIR was challenged in court by some local residents. While the judge dismissed most of the issues raised by the plaintiffs, he found that the EIR did not accurately describe why the alternative sites were selected and said that more information was necessary. The applicant has produced that additional information and is recirculating the EIR for comments. To read the new information, click here. The last day for comments is September 11.

It is expected that this will be before the Board again in October or November. I will keep you updated about this project when firm dates are available.
Sanitation District to Hold Open House

We may not think too much about what happens with our sewage and drainage systems, but they play a critical role in the overall health of our community. The Sanitation District services Live Oak, Soquel, Capitola and Aptos. All the wastewater is pumped to the City of Santa Cruz Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Sanitation District has recently done some facility planning and will be making some changes to their Lode Street site. If you want to find out more about what happens at the Sanitation District and learn about the new plans, I encourage you to come to an Open House:

August 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
