News from your Director, Mandi Tanner...
Our Members are marching into Spring!

Our First Friday Breakfast on March 1st was our best yet. The first guest speaker was State Labor Commissioner, Mark Butler. He talked about employment and jobs in Jasper County.  Did you know that 75%  of Jasper County residents  leave the county for work? Did you also know that 50% of jobs in Jasper County are filled by non- Jasper County residents? 
This was an eye-opening statistic that he reported.  Everyone in attendance really enjoyed his visit and the information he brought.  

Our second speaker was Ms. Lynne Jordan, CAT Chair of Ferst Readers. She gave an update on The Ferst Readers as well as information about Seuss on the Loose. 
The Chamber has a booth at "Seuss On The Loose - Literacy Festival". The booth had over 90 visitors at Chamber craft station.  Fun was had by all.  

This month's featured window display is Cornerstone member and 2017 Business of the Year, Bank of Monticello.  The bank is celebrating 150 years in business for 2019.  The green and white display coordinates perfect for the month of March.

Leadership Jasper Kick Off ...
Leadership Jasper 2019 kicked off with a trip to the Capitol to see State Representative, Susan Holmes, Mr. Paul Holmes and Senator Burt Jones.

The group had a picture made with Gov Kemp and Ms. Susan introduced them to the House of Representatives.

The group took a picture with Senators Lee Anderson and John Wilkerson on the Senate floor, heard from Mike Giles with Ga Poultry Federation on the value of poultry to Georgia's economy. Heard from lobbyist Tripp Martin on process involved in getting legislation passed.   

They ended the morning with a wonderful visit with Sen Burt Jones who was working hard on his Bill to put Hartsfield-Jackson Airport under a State Authority. The day was wrapped up with a trip to The Varsity for Lunch. Monticello-Jasper County is very blessed to have a State Representative like Ms. Susan to take time our of her busy season to give a great tour of the Capitol. 

Ribbon Cutting...
Southern Embroidery works has moved to Venture Court, next to Bulldog Gym.  Join us Thursday, March 14th at 4:30pm for a New Location Ribbon Cutting for Southern Embroidery Works! Michelle and her staff are excited to show everyone the new store and what she has to offer.  See you Thursday!!

Community Easter Sunrise Service...

Easter is on April 21st this year.  Please note the location change.  The Community Easter Sunrise Service will be held on the Front Lawn of the Monticello First United Methodist Church. Bring a lawn chair and friend.

In the event that is rains, the service will move inside to the sanctuary.  

The Jasper County Care Corps, Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce, and the Churches of Jasper County look forward to seeing everyone on April 21st at 7:30am.
