Tourism
Are you a sharkie? Were you glued to the Discovery Channel for the last seven days watching with “baited” breath on when the next great white would attack? Well, so was the Tourism Department of the Greene County Partnership. Now, with all of the taping and nerve wracking attacks and studies over with for another 365 days, it is time for “Sammy the Shark” to take a Sharkation right here in Greeneville, TN. The Tourism Department would like to invite the community along on a Sharkation event right here in our own community and have fun in the process. Sammy will be seen throughout the Greeneville/Greene County Community over the next week, August 5-11, visiting historic sites like the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site, eating in our restaurants, throwing out the first pitch at the Greeneville Reds game on Monday, August 5 against the Bluefield Blue Jays beginning at 6:30 p.m., riding in the new Top Choice BBQ truck around town, posing at Ye Olde Towne Gate and much more. Take a selfie with Sammy and Mr. Redlegs on Monday night at the Red’s game and receive 10 bonus entries. “Hook” Sammy for a selfie, share on DiscoverGreenevilleTN.com ’s Facebook page and Tourism’s Instagram page discovergreeneville, use the hashtag #Sharkation2019GreenevilleTN and be entered to win great prizes. Sammy’s location will be posted on these social media sites as “hints”. Log on, follow share and have fun. Sammy also has swag to give away.
Some prizes include (2) one-day passes to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, dinner for two at Aubrey’s, a cake from Angeez Sweet Shop, a gift card to Creamy Cup, a grill from MECO, swag from the Greeneville Reds, a $50 gift card to Wal-mart, a $50 gift card to Food City, passes for the Capitol Theatre and much more. That’s right, all you need to do is be lucky enough to have a “Sammy Sighting” grab him and take that selfie, post, share away and win!!!

Fam Tours
Tourism hosted yet another travel writer familiarization tour Sunday, July 28 & 29. Our writers, Laura Huff the Online Publisher of Carolina Epicurean, LLC since 2007 and Heidi Billotto, a Food Writer, Cooking Instructor, and Event Chef. Laura and Heidi stayed at the historic General Morgan Inn, ate Sunday brunch in Brumley, took a lovely guided tour of downtown Greeneville and visited the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site, David Crockett Birthplace State Park and other attractions throughout our community. This familiarization tour is the fourth of its kind that Tourism has hosted since the first of the year. What are the benefits of hosting a “FAM” Tour? The list is long and varied, but can include better destination knowledge, networking opportunities, greater credibility and brand building.
