Maui, isle of my heart, golden of the island chain,
How I yearn to embrace your shores and your valleys once again.
My eyes long to dance across your sunny clear blue skies,
To marvel at your magnificent mountains, to gaze at your sunrise.
To stand in awesome wonder on the summit of Haleakala,
And yonder view the peaks of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
To behold such splendor and feel as one,
To reach out and touch the face of the sun.
Your lush green fertile valleys refresh my hungry spirit,
Your gentle winds are like a song and my soul can hear it.
I love your fields and quiet pastures, your fruit trees everywhere,
Your lovely fragrant flowers that permeate the air.
The beauty of your landscape gives my soul such peace,
Your beaches and your sunsets, a visual tropical feast.
Your people seem so happy, a smile on every face,
No one’s even in a hurry to get to any place.
Your children look so healthy, their bodies bronze with tan,
Our Keiki O’ Ka ‘Aina, the children of our land.
Maui, Isle of valleys, land of my birth,
For me, you are heaven right here on this earth.
The simple life you offer is paradise to me,
The sweetest dream within my heart you will always be.
