The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy Highlights Work of Centenary Members!

From the VICPP Newsletter:

The General Assembly has been in full swing last week and this week. Our VICPP policy staffers are working crazy hours – often at hearings at 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. (last night we were there until 10 p.m.). Since the General Assembly only meets for eight weeks, the session is jammed full. I’m always impressed with how hard the legislators and their staff are working.

THANKS TO OUR WITNESSES AT THE CAPITOL
I am particularly grateful for our Witness at the Capitol volunteers who meet with aides, deliver fact sheets, sit in hearings for hours, and testify to support or oppose legislation. They also lift up the voice of the faith community and stand with marginalized people.

Board members Rev. Dr. Anthony Fludd,  Dr. Warren Hottle  and  Rev. Pat Shipley, have been rock stars  – showing up day in and day out. We’ve also been blessed by regular support from Mr. Joe Brancoli, Ms. Lucretia Farago, Pastor Rodney Hunter, Rev. Jeanne Pupke, Dr. Eva Thorpe and Rev. Hollie Woodruff. Last week we had help from seven Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology students from Rev. Dr. Faith Harris’ J-term class and Mr. Rodney Page. We greatly appreciate all the help.

WAKE UP With Us

The Reach Team has enjoyed hosting our pop up coffee and cider bar, WAKE UP, on Sunday mornings. We have been thrilled by the number of guests that have stopped to chat before and after the service. It is great to see friendships grow with our current members too! WAKE UP will be on holiday the rest of January. Look for us again in February!

Would you like to host WAKE UP? We are looking to add people to our WAKE UP Barista team. Tasks include making coffee, warming cider and providing a small treat for guests. Find a friend and partner up! Please contact Anne Kraft ( annekraft96@gmail.com ) or any of our other Reach Team members (Lynnette Bailey, Mann Brown, Nathan Grubb, Pencye Bailey, Rachel Bates, Steve Kraft, Susan Thomas, or Reid Ashe) to learn more.
