INITIATIVES AND SUCCESSES
BREAST CANCER
The breast cancer workgroup is continuing and expanding its efforts to implement comprehensive cancer education programs to increase breast cancer screenings for residents in public housing.
The workgroup completed a Housing Authority project, funded by the Susan G Komen foundation, that provided group education opportunities and improved access to breast cancer screening resources. The counties targeted by this grant were Darlington, Chester, Orangeburg, Union, and Cherokee. This grant was able to provide trusted breast health education to 300 women in government subsidized low-income housing, in addition to referring 33 women to appropriate screening providers.
The Housing Authority Project is active in the following counties: Beaufort, Calhoun, Chester, Fairfield, Greenwood, Orangeburg, and Union.

HPV Vaccination NOW: This is Our Moment.
