We cannot believe that Summer Camp is almost over!
We will be collecting registrations for the final week of camp
(August 12-16) by this
Wednesday, the 7th, 1 pm (space is limited)
!
For the last week of camp we will be heading to Pinz Entertainment, participate in a scavenger hunt around Town and head to Onset Beach on the last day! For the calendar of activities and more information, click

Camp runs from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, with an extended day option until 5 pm.
To reserve your child's spot:
- Ages 8-14 yr. old;
- $50 deposit per week of camp you want them to attend;
- Milford residents: $160 per week;
- Non-Milford residents: $175 per week;
- Single Day fee: $60 per day;
- Extended day until 5 pm: $15 per day;
- Physical within one year

We Are Hiring: Part-Time Positions!
|
Are you creative, organized and enjoy working with children and teens? If so, come be a part of the Milford Youth Center team!
In these paid part-time positions, you will facilitate and monitor after-school programs for children and teens at the Milford Youth Center. This position will be utilized for the After School hours, predominantly between from 2-6 PM. Activities Facilitators will also need weekend availability for rental purposes.
Must be at least 17 years of age with
demonstrated interest/experience in working with youth. The positions available are:
- Activities Supervisors - $12.00/hr
- Front Desk Monitors - $12.00/hr
- Activities Facilitators- $13.05/hr (weekend availability needed for rentals)

 The MYC is looking for one
Social Capital Inc. AmeriCorps member, for a position starting in September!
The SCI AmeriCorps program supports youth success by increasing volunteerism and providing leadership training and community service opportunities for youth. The goal of the SCI AmeriCorps program is to connect youth with relationships, experiences and resources they need to succeed. Members implement volunteer outreach and capacity building activities that increase volunteer participation, and provide leadership training and community service opportunities for youth.
When you join AmeriCorps, you use your energy, ideals, and talents to help others. Plus, you'll earn money for education, learn to be a leader, and gain real job skills. SCI AmeriCorps members aim to build social capital in their communities through civic engagement opportunities, while gaining valuable experience in the process!
 SCI AmeriCorps members are placed into one of two teams, Volunteer Outreach Coordinators and Youth Leadership Coordinators. We are currently filling one position at the Milford Youth Center that will serve 1700 hours from September 2019 to June 2020.

MYC After School Program:

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer break but is excited to start a new school year! The Milford Youth Center will be hosting an open house on Thursday, August 22nd between 12-3 pm for all families who would like a tour and more information about our after-school program.
The Center will be opening its after-school program on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 28, 2018. The first and second day of school, kids will be welcomed in and can also pick up registration forms. Starting Tuesday, September 3rd, any child coming to the after-school program must be registered or they will not be able to stay! So get your registration forms in the earlier the better! The Milford Youth Center has become the focal point for the children of Milford. It hosts many different activities and events throughout the year for the youth of Milford and/or the Milford Schools. The Milford Youth Center's after school program is open for youth ages 8-18, free of charge, from 2-6 pm, Monday through Friday (check monthly calendar, website and social media for any changes due to weather, holidays or vacation weeks). All Youth members must be picked up by time of closing (unless they walk home). Pick up is outside of the building on 24 Pearl St. Please visit our

traffic control plan.
All participants must fill out a
registration form annually to be a member. Once this form is completed and returned to the Center, the member will be provided with a key tag and ID number (if they are new members to the program). This will be how the Youth Center staff will track attendance. Therefore, all members are required to bring in their key tag in order to enter the facility. If key tag is lost, the Center will charge $1.00 for replacement. The game room, lounge and gymnasium will be offered daily. There will be structured programs that participants must sign up for to participate in. Members are also able to use our washer and dryer, free of charge, during operation hours. The Center also offers a free snack and dinner program, due to the collaboration of CACFP, Hockomock Area YMCA and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services department.

MYC After School Volunteers Wanted!
|
Even though we have been so lucky to have so many volunteers we are always looking for more! Do you have an interest in volunteering at the Milford Youth Center's after school program? Do you have a fun/educational activity or hobby you would like to share with the students? Would you like to learn more about volunteering for our upcoming community events? If so, please contact the MYC Program Coordinator, Kathleen Irwin, here or call (508) 473-1756.
 We truly couldn't of had such a successful the 2018-2019 After School Program without all of our amazing volunteers! We rely heavily on the generous support of our volunteers to bring a variety of new programs for students to benefit from. This past school year we had hundreds of volunteers who committed to thousands of hours of service for both our daily after school program, community events, fundraisers and building projects! This also equates to thousands of dollars saved by the Milford Youth Center in salary/wages! Our volunteers have different backgrounds and hobbies which allows us to create programs that everyone can get involved in. Due to our wonderful volunteers we have been able to bring in fun programs that both challenge and teach students such as boxing, homework help, science club, crafts, nutrition, soccer, improv acting, sewing, fishing, sign language, zumba, gardening and youth council, just to name a few! Thank you again to all of our volunteers, we really could not do this without you!

MYC Awarded Strategic Partner Award!

(UWTC) for presenting the MYC with a Strategic Partner Award on July 16th!
Strategic Partner Awards are given to organizations that continue to take a proactive approach to building a relationship with UWTC and demonstrate tremendous service to residents of their community!
Thank you for this honor and for the continued support of the MYC! The United Way of Tri-County supports the Youth Center currently with organizing donations and employee giving campaigns, a Tools for School Backpack Drive and Hope for the Holidays, a holiday gift collection!

The Tradesman's 2019 Labor Day Bash
to Support the Milford Youth Center!

 On Sunday, Sept. 1st, the Tradesman in Milford will transform into one of the biggest end of the summer music festival celebrations, with hundreds of people visiting the local tavern throughout the day enjoying music, drinks and local food vendors! You do not want to miss their annual Labor Day Weekend Bash (21+)!
Each year the event organizers select a local charity and/or organization to raise funds for and this year they selected the Milford Youth Center! Band fees, a portion of sponsorships and the day's proceeds will help support our future music room! If you are interested in becoming a Bash Sponsor (3 levels) please contact Ray Auger here! 3rd Annual Telethon:
Help Us Build a Music/Media Room!
|
The Milford Youth Center is reaching out to YOU to help raise funds to build a music and multimedia media room! For this reason, we are requesting for your support to help the Center with our third Annual Telethon on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 3-9 PM, hosted again by Ray Auger and Yvy Lima!
In an effort to help the Center, after State funding was cut, Milford TV offered to join forces and put on a telethon to draw attention to the Youth Center's endeavors to finish our multimedia and music
room, areas that were not a part
of the scope of the Armory renovation.
W
e have raised a total of $15,000 so far through our first two Telethons and we are looking to start some of the beginning stages of the project, which we have received a quote for $50,000 to accomplish, after this year's event. As a thank you, all sponsors and donors will be recognized throughout the telethon broadcast and are welcome to join us as well!
Check out some of the things you will be able to enjoy at the Telethon: We will have a dunk tank down at Fino Field where there will also be a softball game between the Fire and Police Departments, musical acts of all ages being shown live at the Youth Center and multiple other surprises! Become a Telethon Sponsor!

There are so many ways to support the MYC's 3rd Annual Telethon on Saturday, September 14th from 3-9 PM! One way is to become an official sponsor!
We are looking for one "Gold Sponsor"at $500 to secure American Idol Finalist, 102.5 Country Music Morning show co-host and former BC basketball star, Ayla Brown to sing the National Anthem and do the commentary during the game!
We are also looking for four $250
"Silver Sponsors" to support our "Milford Family Feud" Game. We have secured one sponsor for one of the questions so far! Thank you to the
Milford Girls Softball League for your continued support!
Finally, we are also looking for five $200
"Bronze Sponsors" for the lightening round of our "Milford Family Feud" Game!
Last year we did a spin on jeopardy called "Milfordy" and it was so much fun and were able to raise over $2,500 through game sponsors!

Milford Police vs. Milford Fire Softball Game!

 We are inviting the community to enjoy a friendly softball game between the Milford Police and Fire Departments to support the MYC's 3rd Annual Telethon! Who will take the trophy this year?! The Milford Fire Dept. took the trophy last year, after a competitive basketball game! Thank you to Crown Trophy of Northborough for donating this years trophy!
Come down to Fino Field between 4-6 PM on Saturday, September 14th to enjoy the game, concession stand and entertainment! We are requesting a $5 donation admission fee and there will also be a 50/50 raffle!
You will also have the opportunity to Dunk you Public Official and/or Town Employee uring the game!! Thank you to Senator Ryan Fattman, Superintendent Kevin McIntyre, Parks and Recreation Administrator James Asam, Information Technology Manager Andy Diorio and Town Lawyer Charles Boddy for agreeing to participate so far! Adult Open Gym will
Continue
into August!

Adult Open Gym will continue on Wednesday nights through August 21, 2019 with the new summer hours! Adult Open Gym will be Wednesday nights from 8:00 -9:30 pm!
*THERE WILL BE NO ADULT OPEN GYM WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28TH*

This is only open to adults (18+). You will have to fill out a waiver your first time participating, along with providing a license and/or ID. Milford residents will be charged $3 each and out-of-town participants will be charged $5 each week.

MYC Kid's Play Group: Starting October 3rd!
|
Join us for our MYC Kid's Play Group, starting in October! This is a children's play group for parents and/or guardians to bring their kids to play, craft and socialize! The groups will run everything Thursday afternoons from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm!
Each session will include activities such as circle time, free play, crafts, snack, story time, and clean up! There is a requested donation of $5 per family per session, so the MYC can continue and expand groups and programming. Come on down and bring your child to run and play while adults socialize and meet other families in the community!

Teachers Driving Academy (TDA)

 The Milford Youth Center would like to thank the TDA for $28,000 worth of donation funds through their 2018-2019 sessions! The Milford Youth Center is pleased to partner with Teachers Driving Academy to offer students a great program, at a reasonable price, with added convenience of taking classes right at school! We are very grateful for this collaboration and support!
TDA registration information:
- You are now able to pay the $119.00 fee here! We not longer collect payments at the Youth Center. This classroom registration price INCLUDES the fee that must be paid to the RMV for the teen's driver's education certificate. THIS IS A FEE THAT THE RMV MAKES ALL DRIVING SCHOOLS COLLECT ON BEHALF OF THE TEENS who complete driver's education.

Rentals Available at MYC!

The Milford Youth Center is available for rental purposes. The spaces available to rent are the gymnasium and/or stage area, conference room and batting cages. We do require an application to be filled out 3 weeks prior to your event and must comply with our rules and regulations.
