June 24, 2020

In worship on Sunday, we will read from Luke 2: 21-38 and we'll meet a prophet named Anna. Luke tells us that Anna was in prayer night and day. I think her posture of prayer enabled her to recognize Jesus before her.

What does your prayer life look like these days? I hope you'll use these days at home to refresh your prayer life. Maybe you'll begin a new practice of reading Scripture, or praying while you walk outside. Perhaps you'll sign up below to receive FPCR's prayer list each week. There are so many ways to pray!

I hope that your life of prayer, like Anna's, will help you to recognize Jesus in our midst. Listening and talking to God and being attentive to God deepens our awareness that God is at work around and among us.

Peace,

Pastor Rosy

Network Food Drive

We continue to partner with St. Barnabas and Canyon Creek Presbyterian Churches, to collect food for the Network of Community Services. On Thursday, July 2, you can deliver your donations from 9:30 to 11:30 under FPCR's porte cochere. The no-touch protocol for drop off remains the same: drive through, pop your trunk or back hatch, and volunteers will gather the food from your vehicle. Do not get out of the car. Network especially needs soups, canned meats, canned vegetables, rice, beans, peanut butter, and jellies.

Mid-Summer Sunday School Kits

At the same time you deliver food, families with children in preschool through grade 6 (completed) can pick up their AT-HOME Intergenerational Sunday School kits for July and early August. Kits provide materials and instructions to share meal ideas, games, crafts, Bible lessons, prayers, singing, and more, at home on any day of the week!
Questions? - contact  Becky at

If you can't get to the drive-thru on July 2, volunteers can make porch deliveries.

What stories of race and racism did you grow up with? What feelings are evoked in you when the topic of race is considered? Many of us feel anxious, sad, or guilty, and that's why we are gathering each week to discuss "Anxious to Talk About It" by Dr. Carolyn B. Helsel. We meet on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. on Zoom and it's not too late to join us for these important conversations.

  RESOURCE OF THE WEEK

224th General Assembly of the PC(USA)

This week, commissioners from across the PC(USA) are gathering virtually for this year's General Assembly. The General Assembly has several specific responsibilities outlined in Chapter 3 of the Book of Order. The assembly seeks to protect our church from errors in faith and practice, is responsible for assuring that the expression of our theology remains true to the biblical standards in our historic confessions. The General Assembly presents a witness for truth and justice in our community and in the world community. It sets priorities for the church and establishes relationships with other churches or ecumenical bodies.
