Opportunities for the Works of Mercy for summer

I've seen lots of good work so far

I really enjoy reading what you are doing and what you are learning as you reflect on the Works of Mercy.

If you have not yet journaled, it is certainly time to begin!  You have ten months so far to get started. No one is too busy to pay attention to how to live a merciful life.

You can find ideas on these lists for things to do in your everyday life.
Here are some organized group events for you to take part in:
  • Ms Crino needs help with inventory and organization as we plan for Religious Ed to begin. You can meet her in the school on Tuesday, August 6 at 10 AM-12 PM or Thursday, August 8 at 11 AM - 1 AM.  Email her to tell her you are coming.  Lunch included!
     
  • Aid for Women is asking for volunteers to come help fill 4,000 baby bottles for the Baby Bottle Drive Fundraiser, which is one of their fundraisers for Respect Life Month in October.  They will be there Tuesday, August 6, Friday, August 9, Tuesday, August 13, and Friday, August 16 - anytime between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Location: Heather's House, 1150 N. River Rd, Des Plaines, IL.  Contact Molly Brown, Volunteer Program Coordinator at 312.373.0366 or [email protected].
     
  • The Produce Mobile will be at St. Emily's on August 8.  Sign up to help here.
     
  • There will be another trip to Feed My Starving Children on August 17. Sign up here.
Besides these special events,  look for other opportunities to help in your family, your school and your neighborhood . Also,  the spiritual works of mercy   are just things that might happen in the course of a day.

Confirmation will be March 15

We have received word that Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 PM.  Bishop Rojas, our Vicar here in Vicariate I, will confirm our candidates.

Put these dates on your family calendar now!  You'll receive more information in the weeks and months to come, but you will have the time set aside.

  • Enrollment mass - Saturday, October 26 at 5:00 PM.
  • Pilgrimage - Wednesday, October 9 .  This is a day that many public school students have off due to the Jewish holidays.
  • Retreat - Saturday, January 11 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This retreat is mandatory.
