Last year this time, we were preparing to film critical scenes in Austria and Poland for THE GREEN BOX: AT THE HEART OF A PURPLE HEART. This year, we are unsure when we can film much needed interviews and re-enactments, but one of our first interviews we hope, will be with Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson. He is one of the Tuskegee Airmen who flew fighter planes in WWII that protected B24s, like Robert Kurtz’s “Sugar Baby.” Just nine days after “Sugar Baby” was shot down and Robert Kurtz taken prisoner, Jefferson’s plane was shot down and he was taken to the same POW camp, Stalag Luft III. Like Kurtz and others from his crew imprisoned in Stalag Luft III, Jefferson was force marched across Germany in the cold and snowy January of 1945. Now at 98 years old, we would like to capture his story on film and his personal account of this grueling march. So we are fundraising to film this and need your help.
Filming an interview will look a little different with social distancing - 6’ from the camera, and the crew being directed via telephone, but it’s important to get Lt. Col.
