New Equestrian Bridge Open Near Lawton Canal Road in Sea Pines
|
|
After several years of planning and coordination and through the generosity of a few supporters, a new Equestrian Bridge has been built near Lawton Canal Road in Sea Pines.
Historically, for the horse trail rides to access the Forest Preserve they shared a bridge with vehicular traffic. Now the horses have their own dedicated crossing over Lawton Canal.
The new Equestrian Bridge was made possible through contributions from The Bakala Family, The Sea Pines Forest Preserve Foundation and The Sea Pines Resort.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 2 pm which marked the official opening of the bridge. The new Equestrian Bridge has been named “Harley’s Crossing” in honor of the beloved Sea Pines Clydesdale Harley who lived at Lawton Stables and passed away on March 15, 2021.
