First Reading:
After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count,
from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. (Rev 7:9)
Second Reading:
We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure. (1 Jn 3:2b-3)
Gospel:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 5:3)

A Message from our Parish Pastor, Father Phil
|
|
Dear Parishioners:
Earlier this week the disheartening but realistic message was circulated that we may not be “out of the woods” with regard to COVID-19 until next Fall. First, an effective vaccine has to be discovered. Then the vaccine must be manufactured in quantities sufficient for the need. The vaccine’s distribution will have to be prioritized (first responders, health care workers, the elderly and most vulnerable, etc.) and administered to them. Then the rest of us can be inoculated. We Remember
Those we love must someday pass
beyond our present sight . . .
must leave us, and the world we
know, without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle, their
lovely light will shine . . .
to brighten up another place
more perfect and divine.
And the realm of heaven, where they
shine so warm and bright . . .
our loved ones live forevermore
in God’s eternal Light.
Please pray for all our departed loved ones whose names are read at Masses this weekend. Also, take a special moment to remember and pray for those you love and admire who have passed away.

"Grab and Go" Community Meal
SJB and STA prepared 144 "home-cooked" meals. Twenty-eight were delivered to the homebound and the others were distributed in the SJB parking lot drive-through. Eighteen volunteers over the course of 2 days gave of their time to make this event happen! Special cards, handmade by SJB students, were included with the meals. Thanks to all for making this creative opportunity to break bread together come to life!

Diaper Drive
A huge thank you to the St. John the Baptist community for your generosity!
Together, you donated 3,476 diapers & 6,080 wipes to Anchor of Hope Health Center - wow! (That's about three overflowing playpens worth of diapers!) These diapers & wipes will benefit the families that Anchor of Hope serves.
Let us keep those families in our prayers!

Annual Mission Appeal and the Holy Land Collection
The SJB family collected and gifted $3,747 to Zeru Zeru, Inc. and $668.05 to Holy Land Collection. The Annual Mission Appeal with Zeru Zeru, Inc. supports the protection, care, and education of the vulnerable children at the center in Tanzania. The Holy Land Collection goes toward the maintenance and upkeep of the holy sites as well as supporting the lives of Christians in the Holy Land. It is beautiful to see the outpour of love that the SJB church and school continues to offer, even during challenging times. Thank you! They will know we are Christians by our Love!

While we are not far off from our budgeted income, the chart above shows that the combined donations are over $40,000 or 20% lower than the same period for 2019. Additionally, costs and materials needed to ensure the safety of our parishioners, students, staff, and guests are having a considerable drain on parish resources. Thank you for your continued support during this pandemic. We ask you to prayerfully consider increasing your giving in a time when others in our parish may not be as fortunate. We welcome Phil Tripoli and Nicole Walker to the Parish Finance Council. Phil is a member-at-large and Nicole is the representative from the Pastoral Council in joining the PC in October. The Council meets monthly to review the parish finances.

Church Offerings
St. John the Baptist has always had a strong history of stewardship, and we have been blessed by the generosity of our parishioners in both easy and difficult times. With that in mind, please prayerfully reflect on your ability to share your financial gifts with our parish.
Please know that we rely entirely on your generous donations to continue operating and providing the ministry to serve the Lord and our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are most grateful for your continued support. Thank you!
