STEPPS program returns to Horizons
Horizons is once again offering the nationally-recognized Systems Training for Emotional Predictability & Problem Solving (STEPPS), a 20-week evidence-based educational program that teaches participants skills to improve management of intense feelings and related behaviors.

"The goal is to develop an increased sense of self-awareness and insight, as it relates to mental health, in order to respond to the environment rather than react to it," said therapist Beth Krayenhagen.

The first session of STEPPS takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Horizons. Contact Lindsey Piper for more information or to make a referral. Applicants are required to participate in an initial screening before they can start the program.
NTS story: The late shift

A couple weeks after starting one new job, Roger picked up a second job that starts at 10:30 five nights a week. He needs transportation to get to this second job, but the city bus has stopped running by then.

Roger has been able to get back on his feet with laudable momentum through the help of Neighborhood Transportation Service (NTS). "Mercy and grace are fantastic," he exclaimed.

NTS provides affordable transportation to employment and education throughout the Cedar Rapids area. If you or someone you know could benefit from this service, give NTS a call at (319) 363-1321.
