Welcome Saxon families!
On behalf of Langley High School's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. The PTSA works closely with Langley administrators, teachers and staff to support the curriculum and
provide programs that directly benefit our children.
We could not do this without our Langley parents, who play a vital role in maintaining a tradition of excellence at our school.
I encourage each of you to find a meaningful way to connect and engage with the Langley community. To do this, I invite you to:
Attend PTSA Meetings. Be a parent in the know! Plan to attend the PTSA meetings and hear the latest from
Principal
Kim Greer. These meetings are a great opportunity to stay informed, discuss important issues, meet Langley staff and have your questions answered. The meetings will be held in
Langley’s Lecture Hall on Wednesday mornings at
9:30 am on
Sept 11, Nov 13, Jan 15, Mar 11 and
May 6.
Stay Informed. Our weekly PTSA newsletter, the
Langley eNews, is disseminated on Thursday afternoons and is a great source of information about upcoming LHS events. If you are receiving this email from us, you are signed up! Check the
PTSA
website frequently for the latest updates, and for an abundance of helpful links and materials. Follow us on
Twitter at
@LangleyHS_PTSA.
Volunteer. We rely on the time and expertise of our parents! Your participation in the PTSA will enhance your child's experience, give you a voice and help you stay connected.
Make a pledge to volunteer at least once this year!
There are many ways to get involved, including providing baked goods for hospitality events, serving as a table leader at Senior Ethics Day or chaperoning school dances.

Invest in our Children.
Your PTSA membership and donation dollars provide many items that the FCPS budget cannot furnish
,
from basic supplies such as
skeleton models
to
software programs, performing arts equipment
and
common area furniture
for our beautiful new space.
Your donations also fund programs
, such as
substance abuse prevention
programs,
continuing education
programs for teachers,
staff appreciation
events and much more. In addition, the PTSA is
enhancing our school's physical environment
with the purchase of a new
school marquee
and
courtyard landscaping
. Your generous donations will assist us in the effort to improve our LHS facilities for our children and for future generations.

here
to donate and/or become a member of the PTSA. Please don't forget that membership should be renewed annually, and that
PTSA dues are separate from class dues.
Provide Feedback. How can the PTSA better support you and your child? Are there changes you would like to see at Langley? Is there a program you'd like to see implemented?
I welcome your questions, comments and suggestions
. Send them to me at
ptsalangley@gmail.com
.
I look forward to working with you to make this a great school year!

Back-to-School packets were handed out to students during the recent FCPSOn laptop distribution periods, but
all the information also is available online
here.
Take a moment to browse the materials. You’ll find
important messages from
class parents, several clubs and organizations, booster clubs and the PTSA.
|
|
Don’t forget! Three FCPS forms are due on the first day of school. Students return them to their third period teachers:
- Emergency care form
- Health information form
- Student rights & responsibilities signature page
These three forms (and others) are available on the FCPS Langley
website.

While we all relish our last few days of summer, Langley’s organizations, clubs, boosters, class parents and the PTSA were also preparing for the new academic year.
Thank you to all the groups and volunteers
for their help in preparing back-to-school packets. A special shout-out to chairs
Chris Hundley and
Eve Shapiro, who organized the logistics for the undertaking, and to
Mr. O’Rourke,
Class of 2021 Sponsor, who pitched in to help us stuff the packets.

Many thanks also to
Susanne Partridge, Kim Jepsen and the rest of the
PTSA Hospitality Committee for welcoming our fantastic Langley teachers and staff with a delicious breakfast last week, on
their first day back to school.
