August Adoption Promotion
 
   
The folklore surrounding black cats varies from culture to culture. Scottish lore holds that a strange black cat's arrival at the home signifies prosperity.  In Britain and Japan, having a black cat cross your path is considered good luck.  
    
The best thing is that like most cats they are so easy to love and they give love to us.  Please visit...we have a number of black kitties and there might be one for you!  We have adoptions specials on all of them this month.

Note: our standard adoption screening process applies to this promotion. Further, for cats age ten and older and cats with chronic medical problems we offer our Perpet-U-Care Program which provides $250 of specialized blood work tests each year. 
2019 Tails of the Painted Cats
 Saturday, September 14 

Our 2019 Tails of the Painted Cats Gala Dinner and Auction is fast approaching!  This is the biennial fundraising event in which large and small cat creations made by local artists will be auctioned off to benefit our shelter.  The cats are all decorated in a special artistic theme which the artist has chosen.  We will also offer for auction a number of lovely flat cat paintings and hand made pottery.  A new auction attraction is a craft brew table. The Gala will be held at Pinehurst Country Club on Saturday, September 14th, from 5 to 9pm.  A delicious dinner will be served, and our Emcee of the evening will be Steve Staeger of Channel 9.   Doug Tisdale will be our auctioneer "extraordinaire" again this year. This will be an enjoyable evening with fellow cat lovers!  Pinehurst Country Club is located at 6255 W Quincy Avenue, Denver 80235.  
 
The winning bidder of painted cat Hanna Lulu will also receive a week in Hawaii at a lovely condo as part of the package.  We are also raffling off a small cat, Little Ming.

Movie Night with the Cats
Sunday, August 25th
    
Pet movies are great fun, and our cats love watching them with you!  Put Movie Night on your calendar for this coming Sunday, August 25th.  We will be featuring "Bolt". The fee is $5 per person. The movie starts at 7pm and doors will open at 6:30pm.

Be sure to stop by Balefire Goods in OldeTown Arvada before the end of August.  This artisan jewelry store has selected Cat Care Society as their charity of the month, and we
will receive a portion of their sales in August to benefit our cats.

Also, the owner, Jamie Hollier, has created some original cat jewelry as a special fundraiser for the shelter.

Opt to Adopt Topsy
 
Topsy is our current Opt to Adopt.  She is a playful 1 year old brown tabby. She was transferred from a rescue group in Texas and we don't know much about her history prior to that. Topsy is super sweet and really likes to sit in laps. She's healthy, but doesn't like other kitties so she should be the only cat in the home.

We've had some heartwarming adoptions this month.  Jackie, who had been here quite awhile, found her special family.

It's terrific when a 15 year old like Cassie
finds a home.  
   
Kitten adoptions have been amazing.  We have only 6 kittens in the shelter right now.  
It's the time of year when many people look for a new car.  If you need to get rid of an old car, please consider donating it so CCS receives the benefit.
