Scripture Readings for Sunday, April 11, 2021
Second Sunday of Easter
|
|
The Easter season is a week of weeks, seven Sundays when we play in the mystery of Christ’s presence, mostly through the glorious Gospel of John. Today we gather with the disciples on the first Easter, and Jesus breathes the Spirit on us. With Thomas we ask for a sign, and Jesus offers us his wounded self in the broken bread. From frightened individuals we are transformed into a community of open doors, peace, forgiveness, and material sharing such that no one among us is in need.

From the desk of Pastor Katie
Grace, peace and every good be with you!
Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
It sure felt good to shout Alleluia and celebrate the Risen Jesus didn't it? Perhaps more than ever, our celebrations of God's power overcoming even death resonated deep within our bones. We are Easter people; we walk by faith trusting that these promises of the Resurrections are true and certain. In the coming weeks, we will keep celebrating the Risen Christ and we'll keep hearing how God's Word sends us out from the empty tomb to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.
Over the next four weeks - we'll hear the Word from our Bishop and her office as well as our Presiding Bishop of the ELCA. We will be diving into the book of Acts! It's a series you don't want to miss!
I want to extend my thanks to you all for your patience and diligence to continue to gather for worship, faith formation, ministry team meetings and fellowship. Be assured that our leadership continues to assess and monitor what Williamson and Travis counties report regarding COVID-19 data. We have a regathering task force team that is meeting to determine detailed protocols for return to ensure we regather in a safe/planned/organized way. That team met yesterday and church council meets next week. Do not lose hope dear church, we will be together in our building again. And also, we remain committed to making worship accessible and participatory for those who cannot return to the building.
We rely and trust in the promise that God is always with us and will remain present with us through whatever comes our way. God the Holy Spirit will guide us and direct us all our days.
Peace and grace be with you,
<><
