Panther Post

August 23, 2019
Message From the Principal

Dear Sullivan Families,

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Panther Post! Our students were excited for today's unveiling of the new mascot at the Kickoff Assembly. We had a great week of speculation and debate surrounding the identity of the mascot. In the end, 10 classes submitted a correct guess, with Mrs. MacTavish's class winning the contest with the first correct answer. All students in her class took home a coveted panther keychain today. We are excited to integrate our mascot into our Positive Behavior Intervention System and celebrate school pride and identity throughout the year.

It has been a wonderful first week with your children! I have enjoyed getting to know our 4th graders and reconnecting with our returning 5th graders. I have been impressed with our kids' attention to school expectations, as well as the connections they are already making with their teachers and classmates. This week, I visited all classrooms to welcome students on the first day, as well as started my reading tour. I have a few more classrooms to read to on Monday. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with the students during and after the read aloud, and I look forward to connecting with students in the classroom throughout the year.

Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing you on Parent Night next Wednesday!

Warmly,

Traci Meziere

Transportation Information
From the Transportation Dept.:
Welcome Back for the 2019-20 school year. We hope the school year has gotten off to a terrific start for your students!
We have been working to maximize route efficiency while continuing to provide transportation services, at no cost, to our families. In doing so, the District has reviewed all routes for the 2019-20 school year. This review has resulted in changes to many of our existing routes, including a reduction of two routes at Ross-Sullivan.
Because routes are developed each year, based on areas of student population, stop locations and route numbers change each year. We have received several requests for changes in pickup locations, routes, etc. We continue to review and prioritize all requests and are working with First Student to address all parent concerns. We appreciate your patience as we work through each contact and are targeting Labor Day to have changes made and student information updated.
A special note of thanks to our building administrative assistants who have been working to address each of your questions. Should you have any additional concerns about your child's transportation, please contact Amy McPartlin in the Business Office.

Building Classroom Community

The classrooms this week were filled with smiles and laughter as our teachers and students got to know each other and participated in team building activities. Students worked with their teachers to create classroom expectations aligned with Sullivan building expectations of Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible.
