Welcome Back!
As today marks the fifth day of instruction of the new school year, I am proud to say that we are off to an exceptional start! The New Family Picnic, New Parent Orientation, Ice Cream Social, and Parent Coffee, were all successful events due to our wonderful Home & School Club and parent volunteers. For those of you who helped to make these events a success, thank you! If you are interested in becoming involved and aren’t sure how, feel free to stop by my office. I would be happy to connect you with a parent volunteer committee on campus.
Nurturing and supporting the social and emotional well-being and academic excellence for all students remains a priority. The Daves Avenue staff are committed to enhancing our caring climate which will require your support. Communication between parents and staff is paramount. If you ever have a question or concern that you need to share about your child, please contact your child’s teacher. Additionally, I take great pride in supporting healthy relationships on campus and would be happy to speak with you as well. Please don’t hesitate to contact me by email, phone, or a handwritten note. Direct and open communication are key elements to building trust .
I look forward to seeing you on Thursday for our Back-to-School Night. Please

Have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,

DOLLARS FOR
DAVES
is the annual fundraising campaign that brings supplies to our school and a variety of other important programs and services, not covered by state funding. We are working hard to maintain these programs but cannot without strong parental support! This year, the H&SC is contributing $455 per student.
We are asking for a donation of $400 per student.
ALL
students will benefit and every dollar counts!

Have you made your donation? Please consider

The popular
Cheetahs Running Club
continues for the
Fall 2019 season
under the guidance of Coach Nick Goddard and Coach Guy Bazan! We will continue fostering a love of running with instruction on proper form, warm ups and pacing. This has not been open to the general school for a couple of years due to over-subscription, but with the recent graduates we can open up a handful of spots for athletic, driven kids who are looking to develop their running.
As we have with previous seasons,
we will also be working on multi-sport conditioning protocols to aid their high-end sprint speeds in other sports such as baseball, soccer, basketball and lacrosse
.
The team structure will remain the same with a focus on setting your own goals, sportsmanship and athletic camaraderie while training for a couple events:
Our focus race for this session will be
Santa Run (5K) - December 15th
**Please note: Race registrations are separate from Running Club fees; parents are responsible for registering their own families for the races they wish to participate in.**
The team will be open to all 2nd-5th Graders with special consideration for interested 1st graders made on an individual basis.
There are only 30 team slots available and priority registration will be given to returning students. A waiting list will be available.
We’d like to balance out the team this season
!
For this week,
registration will ONLY be open for 4th and 5th grade girls.
We will open up to the rest of the school, subject to availability, the following week
Registration is $100 per child, per season.
We are now taking registrations for the Fall Season that has already started. Kids who participated last season must re-register each season.
The club practices every Friday on the Daves Avenue track, 2:30-3:30 pm.
The 4th and 5th grades have an additional session Mondays at Fisher Middle School and LGHS (times and locations TBA).
