“Off the Record” Round 2 - Peer Discussion on COVID-19 Issues

CEO held it’s first set of roundtables earlier in June - seats were full, opinions were shared and an exchange of knowledge took place. We heard the request loud and clear from participants, "These roundtables are of value and need to continue!".

We are facilitating another round of “Off the Record” events on July 20, 21 and 22 ^nd at 8:30 AM.

This next discussion will focus on looking at the future state of projects in the market. Let’s discuss what top concerns you have? How are you planning for a best/worst case scenario? What information do you need to see that CEO can advocate for public owners to provide?

Ontario Extends Emergency Orders to July 10, 2020

The Ontario government has extended all emergency orders currently in force that were made under s.7.0.2 (4) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act until July 10, 2020. This decision was made in consultation with Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health to ensure the gradual reopening of the province on a regional basis can continue as part of Ontario's Framework for Reopening the Province.

Building the Next Canadarm

Canada is taking another important step forward in its participation in the next chapter of Moon exploration. On June 26th, 2020 it was announced that Canada intends to enter into a contract with Brampton-based company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Inc. (MDA) to build Canadarm3.

Building Permits Bounce Back in Canadian municipalities in May

The total value of building permits issued by Canadian municipalities in May bounced back 20.2% to $7.4 billion, following declines of 13.4% in March and 15.4% in April. This was the largest percentage increase since March 2009, and it coincided with the relaxing of COVID-19 construction restrictions in Ontario, Quebec and Prince Edward Island. The May level is still 20.4% below the last peak observed in January 2020. Read more.
