The Heilicher Faculty and Staff are excited to see students on Monday. We hope you are enjoying the last days of summer vacation.
All-School T'filah

New this year, we will have an All-School T'filah  (prayer) service on Monday mornings, 9:15-9:45 a.m., in the Dolly and Edward Fiterman Theatre. Our students will chant Torah each week. We'll celebrate birthdays and milestones. We'll honor those who need healing and who have died (in a developmentally appropriate way, of course). And we'll have a place to pray, whether that means working on our character, connecting with God, reflecting and/or rejoicing.

Parents and special guests are welcome to join us each week for All-School T'filah. Read more about our t'filah education in a blog written by Wendy Goldberg, Assistant Director of Jewish Life.

Heilicher Back-to-School Night

Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 5, is your chance to meet your children's teachers, get excited for the year to come, and learn about the wonderful things happening at our school.

K-5 Parents: Please be in your youngest child's homeroom at 6:30 p.m., ready to reconnect and have fun. Your evening will conclude in the auditorium at 7:45 p.m.

6-8 Parents: Please join us in the auditorium by 7:15 p.m. as we welcome you to Middle School at Heilicher. Following some important messages from our administration, you'll join your child's faculty for a grade-level experience. The evening will conclude by 8:30 p.m.

Please note this is a parent-only event.
First Day of School Dismissal Reminders

As we start the new school year, please note these dismissal process updates. Dismissal for students in K-6 occurs at the north (back) doors only. Grade 7-8 students may depart through the south doors, unless they have younger siblings.

Each family will be provided several ALL NEW 2019-2020 gold-colored vehicle ID cards to be placed on the driver's side dashboard of any vehicle used for pick-up. We have done this to add uniformity and accountability for security purposes. Feel free to take as many as you might need to cover all people who may need to pick up your student(s). If it is a "one time" pick up by someone new, we must have a written note (or email) from you in advance authorizing us to release your student(s) to that person. Emails should be sent to frontdesk@hmjds.orgThe new vehicle ID card must be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle in order to pick up any students and remain on the dashboard until you safely pull away.

Please write your student's LAST NAME legibly in black marker to allow for easy visibility. If you are in a consistent carpool, please list all students' last names. If a card is not displayed, your student will not be released and will need to be picked up in the school office. Vehicle ID cards will be available for pick up at the Summer Social, Parent Coffees, the Heilicher Welcome Desk, the front office and in the dismissal line during the first week of school.

Students should only enter and exit a vehicle from the passenger side. Please do not block crosswalks. Parents/guardians who choose to park and walk in for pick-up must wait at the Heilicher Welcome Desk and your student(s) will be brought up to you.
