The groomer will be on the trails today, use caution if you are riding!

The 7th Street parking lot is still closed to Millston. This will remain closed for the season due to a bridge failure, the remaining trail system is open.

Looks like fall is over the horizon, temperatures in the low 80's on Saturday with a small chance for rain on Sunday. Have a great weekend on the trails!

Photo Contest!
Calling all photographers! 
We need new photos for the 2020 Black River Country Visitor's Guide and for our website! We are looking for all types of photos - scenery, wildlife, ATVing, snowmobiling, skiing, paddling, fishing, etc.
We will pick one photo to be used as the main cover shot for the 2020 Visitor's Guide. The person who submits the winning cover shot will receive $100 in Chamber Bucks and will receive photo credit in the guide. Any photos used on our website or inside the guide will also be given photo credit. Please submit photos no later than August 31st to:  chamber@blackrivercountry.net .

The Friends of the Black River are looking for volunteers to help with its annual river cleanup Saturday, Aug. 24. Volunteers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at Al Young Park at the south end of First Street in Black River Falls to be assigned a section of the river. Volunteers may paddle the river or walk along the shore to collect trash. FBR will provide a complementary lunch to volunteers at noon at Al Young Park. To get a count for the lunch, volunteers are asked to contact FBR President Steve Rake at 715-284-2087 or by e-mailing  info_fbr@yahoo.com  by today, August 22.

Lost Falls Campground has tubing available daily from 9:00-3:00 pm.

Dilly's Hatfield Resort: The Tiki Bar will be open in the summer,  weather permitting, on Friday's from 4-9pm, Saturdays from 11am-9pm, and Sundays from 11am-4pm.

Session I: Dementia Conversations @ 10 am – Offering helpful tips to assist families in having honest & caring conversations with family members about dementia/Alzheimer’s. Session II: Living with Alzheimer’s- For Caregivers; Late Stage @ 11:30 am – Join us for this 2 hour program and learn new ways to connect with individuals with dementia, tips for providing care for, and how to make meaningful connections with a person living with late-stage Alzheimer’s. 24 The Highground Veterans Memorial Park near Neillsville, invites the public to join us for a day of honoring our fallen military men and women, as the Gold Star Tribute is rededicated. An open reception will be held from 4 pm – 6 pm at The Highground Museum. Guests can visit exhibits on display honoring our fallen military, a brass quintet from the 132 nd Army Band will be performing in the Museum during the 2-hour reception. The Gold Star Tribute Rededication ceremony will take place on The Highground Plaza at 6:30 pm. The ceremony will include speakers from Gold Star families of fallen military members from Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Vietnam War; dedication of sponsored benches overlooking the Gold Star; music performances by the brass quintet of the 132 nd Army Band; and a Flag folding and presentation. 27       Black River Memorial Hospital is teaming up with Bucklebear to help families keep their children safe. Bucklebear and BRMH staff will have a car seat safety check-point during the Red Creek Elementary School open house from 2:00-6:00pm. This can help parents, grandparents and guardians be certain their children and grandchildren are riding safely. For more information regarding car seat safety, please call 715-284-1329.

27       Black River Falls Public Library will host the Jackson County Bird Club Meeting at 2pm.

27       Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) will host the Stepping On program. Participants will learn why they fall and how to prevent falls. This program will include strength and balance exercises. Participants will be given a list of home safety tips and a medication review. Holly Freeman, BRMH Occupational Therapist, shares, “Participants will leave with more strength, better balance, and confidence in independent living.” This class is ideal for people who can walk and are living on their own. Research shows, this program can reduce the chance of falling by thirty-one percent. Stepping On will be at the Lunda Community Center. 28       Black River Falls Blood Drive . Donate blood in memory of Dr. Lyle Hart at Comfort Inn & Suites from noon until 5:30 pm. For an appointment call 1800REDCROSS. In January 2019 Dr. Hart passed away from a heart attack. He was active in many BRF community organizations including as a volunteer and blood donor of over 225 pints with the Red Cross. Please come and donate in his honor and help those in need.
