Acceleration East High School
Community Brief
Monday, August 26, 2019

With fellow principals Dr. Hilary Buckridge of Legacy Middle School and Mr. John Dobbs of Lake Sybelia Elementary School during last week's National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) conference.
Leadership is the fabric by which a community creates identity and higher standards.

At a school, leadership cannot exclusively come from the top down. It must come from the bottom up. And it doesn't always have to come from the students who have the positional authority of elected office. It comes from student's self-advocating for their schedules. It comes from intervening between two students in conflict. It comes from committing to a project that beautifies the campus. It comes from making the right decision, even though it's the toughest or least popular decision. It comes from seeing a need and acting on it. It comes from reminding others what's special and unique about them. It comes from putting your arm around a fellow student you don't know and telling them it will be OK. It comes from wearing Acceleration East's purple, black, and silver and knowing that your four years are what you make of it. And that you intend to make the most of it - for yourself AND others.

Over time, we may go our separate ways, but with leadership from our students everyday, the bond can AND WILL last a lifetime. Go Phoenix school community!

With Phoenix Pride,

Mr. Doug Loftus

Ongoing Professional Development
A top priority at AEHS . . .
One of Acceleration East's top strategic goals for the school year is the continuous training of staff. We want our teachers and administrators to be on the leading edge. This past week Principal Loftus took part in a special event geared towards school administrators hosted by the NISL.
