This week the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, which I serve on, met to review the latest audit of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
I'm happy to report that the state's primary economic agency is making significant progress.
Back in 2015, the Audit Bureau suggested more than twenty changes to the way WEDC operates. This latest audit only recommended ten. That's a huge improvement and shows the agency is serious about protecting the interests of taxpayers. You can read the audit
here.
I'd also like to take a moment and thank WEDC Secretary and CEO Mark Hogan for his fine work. His steady leadership turned the agency around and helped turn our state into a business-friendly environment. Mark announced he will be leaving WEDC in September, and it will be difficult to fill his shoes. Thank you, Mark, for your service!
