Dear Friends,

Congratulations to Ozaukee County Sheriff's Deputy Ron Noll who was in the right place at the right time. When a pregnant mother couldn't make it to the hospital in time, Deputy Noll delivered her baby. The mother and the baby boy named Henry are doing well. Great job!

Wisconsin's record-low unemployment streak continues. July marked the 18th straight month that our unemployment rate was at or below 3%. That's never happened before!

Our economy is still very strong in Wisconsin. In the recent state budget, we prevented Governor Evers' tax increases that would have jeopardized our state's success. We are on an incredible run because we were careful with the money you provided as taxpayers. States like Illinois are in bad shape because they've overspent and overtaxed. I won't let that happen here.

As always, if you have any concerns or ideas on how to improve our great state, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 608-266-5830 or by email at Sen.Darling@legis.wisconsin.gov.

On, Wisconsin!
WEDC Audit Shows Improvement
This week the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, which I serve on, met to review the latest audit of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

I'm happy to report that the state's primary economic agency is making significant progress.

Back in 2015, the Audit Bureau suggested more than twenty changes to the way WEDC operates. This latest audit only recommended ten. That's a huge improvement and shows the agency is serious about protecting the interests of taxpayers. You can read the audit here.

I'd also like to take a moment and thank WEDC Secretary and CEO Mark Hogan for his fine work. His steady leadership turned the agency around and helped turn our state into a business-friendly environment. Mark announced he will be leaving WEDC in September, and it will be difficult to fill his shoes. Thank you, Mark, for your service!
