Coming Up...
Making Plans for 60+ Next Monday, Aug. 26
Do  you  have an idea for an upcoming 60+ activity or speaker?  You are invited to attend the 60+ Planning Meeting on Monday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m. in Broadway's Fellowship Hall. T his year's 60+ Group will be under the leadership of Marcia Walker - and if you know Marcia, you know she has a lot of ideas!  All are welcome to join in the discussion and planning, including those who are newly retired or approaching retirement.  If you would like more information, please email Marcia, or call her at 443.8666.
Harp and Healing Returns September 3
Summer is always a great break from the routine, but one of the "routine" events we miss during summertime is the monthly Harp and Healing service.  Good news - Harp and Healing returns September 3!
Harp and Healing returns Tuesday, September 3, at 5:30 p.m. in the Loft.  Harp and Healing is a 45 minute break from the hectic pace of our everyday, providing time to reflect, pray and enjoy the beautiful harp music of Maria Trevor.  Pastor Terry Overfelt will provide meditative readings and scripture to accompany the music.

Mark your calendars for a special Harp and Healing on Tuesday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m.  We will move the service into the Sanctuary, as we welcome  those attending the Partners in Ministry worship as our guests.  This special Harp and Healing will last approximately one hour, include communion and will be followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall.
Meeting the Brileys!
Most of us will get our first chance to meet Mark Briley and his family on Sunday, September 8.  The line to shake our new pastor's hand after worship will surely be a long one - and not conducive to lengthy conversation!
If you would enjoy an opportunity to meet Mark, and his wife, Carrie, in a less formal and more relaxed setting, Fellowship Ministry is coordinating a series of "meet and greets" for the Brileys and their new Broadway family.  Most gatherings will be hosted in members' homes, and we still need a few more volunteers to host.  There will be at least two groups that will meet at Broadway during the day.
Please email  Dixie Fisher or contact the church office, 445.5312, if you would like to host a gathering.  If you would like to attend a gathering, particularly if you need to be included in a daytime group, please contact Dixie or the church office.
Register for Sept. 15 CROP Hunger Walk!
It is already time to begin planning your all activities - and we hope that the annual  CROP Hunger Walk will be on your "to do" list for September 15!  Don Harter will be sitting just outside the Narthex doors for the next few Sundays to register our Broadway walkers.
This year's CROP Walk will begin at 2:00 p.m., with registration starting at 1:00 p.m.  But why not change into your walking shoes right after church and join us at the Collins Shelter in Stephens Lake Park at 12:30 for hot dogs and chips?!!  Broadway's Mission and Outreach Ministry is providing this pre-Walk lunch for all walkers!
Serve As An All God's Children Volunteer!
Did you know that it requires a minimum of nine volunteers to provide support for our All God's Children kids each month?  Well, it does!
As a volunteer, you are a 'buddy' for the kids. You are the person who is there to support them when a craft gets too tricky to open, or to walk around the gym when sitting down is too tedious. During the AGC Worship Hour, you are the eyes of the teacher if students need an escort to the restroom, the hands to pass out markers, or press play on the CD player. You are the hands and feet of the ministry, doing the little things that make everything else successful.
Please consider deeply and pray into walking with this wonderful ministry. Contact Nick or Terry to let them know of your willingness and eagerness to help.

Work of Our Hands Table Needs You!
Each fall in Fellowship Hall, the Work of Our Hands Table begins, selling handcrafted items donated by our members to provide funds for our Festival of Sharing kits.
This year's Table will go up on Sunday, September 8 and remain in Fellowship Hall for four Sundays.  The success of the Table depends on our donations, so if you are a crafter and can donate a few things to the Table, please contact  Debby or just drop off your donation at the Table on September 8.
Share the Story of Your Water at Co-Mingling
Water is within us and the very air we breathe.  Water can be placid and calm; or water can churn and destroy as swollen rivers and streams push out and over banks and levees.
However you experienced water in your travels or in your life as a citizen of flood-ravaged Missouri, we invite you to share your stories and waters with your Broadway family on Sunday, September 8.  At all worship services, you will be invited to come forward and share a brief story of your water's impact, and then combine your waters with the waters of other members.  The collected waters will be poured over our Memorial Garden.  If you have waters and a story to share, please contact  Pastor Terry.
Camp Shirt Sunday!
Whether you went to church camp, attended VBS, traveled to Monterrey Beach - we want you to wear your camp t-shirt Sunday, September 8!  Show us the many ways we "do church" during the summer months!
The Gardens Are Still Growing!
Broadway's gardeners are still getting plenty of produce from their gardens, so be sure to stop by the Farmer's Market Table in Fellowship Hall!  Cucumbers, squash, onions - and maybe even a tomato or two - can be found.  Just make a donation to our basket and enjoy fresh produce at a bargain price! All money raised will support our offering to Church World Services through the Festival of Sharing.
