Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points

Workshop Objectives
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of HACCP
  • Be able to identify high-risk foods and high-risk processes
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Control Methods used in a HACCP Plan
  • Preventative Control Plans (PCP)
  •  Good manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  •  Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Be able to implement key monitoring procedure
These topics will be addressed with a combination of instructor-lead discussion and group activities .
Group Activities that will be used:
  • Hazard description exercise: Useful as review of hazard types and hazards associated with your job
  • Key definitions and how they relate to the job, ex: Task, Monitor, Correction Action, CCP, & SOP
  • Record Review Activity: Discussion of Say What You Do, Do What You Say, Prove It aspect of HACCP implementation. Demonstration with suitable example of a record. Stimulate an audit situation

Food Innovation & Processing Hub - RFQ a Success
Thank you to all our local agrifood and beverage businesses that completed the Food Innovation and Processing Hub survey last month that helped demonstrate need and demand for food processing equipment.

CVEDS response to the provincial Food Hub Network Request for Qualifications in partnership with  North Island College FoodMetrics Laboratories , Pickled Carrot Catering,  Salish Sea Foods Lentelus Farms  with 20 letters of support from agriculture, agrifood and education related organizations, was successful and CVEDS has been invited to submit a response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) which is currently being compiled.
Taste of the Valley - Tickets on Sale

Get your tickets to the Taste of the Valley! Comox Valley Farmers' Institute and the Comox Valley Exhibition are hosting this first annual dinner on August 22nd to showcase agriculture in the Comox Valley. Dinner ingredients will be locally sourced, and all net proceeds from this event will go to the Cups for Cancer fundraiser.

There will be live music, a no host bar featuring local wines, beer and liquor. The price of the dinner ticket will include one day admission to the CVEX Fall Fair.

Dress code is Country Casual - boots and jeans are recommended!
Cocktails at 6:30 pm Dinner at 7:00 pm.
Farm Cycle Tour - Register to Participate
