July in Truro...
July is a month when the sun remains near its highest transit in the sky. The longest day was June 21st and the days are now very slowly shortening while our surrounding waters continue to soak up the solar energy, bringing us our warmest month of the year.
The warming trend continues with temperatures up 6 degrees from June. According to past records, we expect an average temperature of 70°F, with average lows of 62°F and highs of 79°F. We traditionally get a total of only 1.8 inches of rain (about 1/3 drier than June).
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Truro Meeting House
The Friends of the Truro Meeting House prepared a roster of great programs for the summer. However, out of concern for the health and safety of our Friends and community, none of these will be presented this summer. For now, we must rely on the internet to share our ideas of what was in store; and we look forward to rescheduling what we can in 2021. Please contact us if you would like to receive our Friends electronic Newsletter with more information or to be notified when a presentation is available for online viewing: truromeetinghousefriends@gmail.com
We are living in an historic moment. The venerable Meeting House reminds us of the numerous events, tragic and triumphant, it has witnessed. Built in 1827, it was a symbol of our town's growing prosperity; but not long after it was joined by a marble obelisk to our town's greatest tragedy, the 1841 loss at sea of 57 citizens on seven vessels. Yet the town adapted and endured, and its Meeting House was a place of gathering for solace and hope. We still see it that way. www.truromeetinghousefriends.org
