Science Week 2019 Kicks-Off On November 1st
The USU Science Council invites you to participate in Science Week 2019 beginning Friday, November 1st. The week is full of events that celebrate collaboration and the diverse scientific disciplines represented in the College of Science.

Science Week kicks off with a Public Viewing Night at the USU Observatory on Friday, Nov. 1 from 7:30 - 9:30 pm. Science Week continues on Monday, Nov. 4, with lunch-time and evening activities during each day that week. For the full Science Week schedule, visit https://www.usu.edu/science/week .

Registration for the spring 2020 semester begins in less than two weeks. Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to make a plan as soon as possible.

Undergraduate students can find their departmental advisor and schedule an appointment online . Some seniors can begin registering for classes on November 11th, with all undergraduate students following through the 14th based on the number of credits they’ve completed at USU. Consult the Spring 2020 Registration Calendar to determine when you can begin adding classes, set up your schedule in Banner, and be ready to register.

Graduate students can begin registering on November 11th at 8 pm, and are encouraged to meet with their faculty advisors in preparation for registration.

Upcoming Research Opportunity Deadlines
Stay aware of upcoming deadlines for undergraduate research opportunities. The abstract deadline for the Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research (UCUR) is Friday, November 1st. UCUR is being held at USU on February 7th, 2020, so be sure to take part in this exciting opportunity to present your research on campus. Similarly, the deadline for submitting abstracts for the Utah Research on Capitol Hill (ROCH) event is November 1st. The deadline for USU’s Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium is also November 1st.

National Opportunities:
Students interested in presenting their research at the national “Posters On The Hill” event in Washington D.C. should submit their abstracts by Tuesday, November 5th. The abstract submission process for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research is open until December 6th.

If you’ve been invited to present your research, apply for travel funding through the USUSA Academic Opportunity Fund at least four weeks before your conference.

Science Unwrapped: Bake to the Future
Join artisan baker Bill Oblock for Science Unwrapped on Friday, November 8th, in Eccles Science Learning Center Room 130 (ESLC 130) at 7 pm. Science learning activities for all ages follow Oblock’s presentation.

If you or a group you’re involved with are interested in volunteering at Science Unwrapped, you can sign up to volunteer online .
USU’s Hackathon is November 15th and 16th
The HackUSU Club invites students from all majors to participate in this year’s Hackathon on November 15th and 16th in the USU Eccles Conference Center. If you’re interested in problem solving and learning new skills, this event is for you. No coding skills are required to participate, and this is a great opportunity to meet new Aggies.
