Join the Conversation at Global Engagement Night

Global Engagement Night invites international and domestic students to participate in cross-cultural discussions about different regions of the world and share their thoughts on topics affecting all college students. Global Engagement Night takes place on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building. The first Global Engagement Night of autumn semester will be on August 27, and it will be a meet and greet. Snacks will be provided!

Enroll in ESEPSY 2060—A Study Skills Course For International Students

All international undergraduate students are invited to enroll in a newly developed seven-week, two-credit course for autumn semester 2019, ESEPSY 2060: Academic Success Strategies for International Students (Session 1: October 7, TuTh, 12:45-2:05 p.m.; Session 2: October 14, TuTh, 12:45-2:05 p.m.), designed to help international students adapt to U.S. academic culture and practice skills needed for success in Ohio State classrooms. Students will also become familiar with a wide variety of campus resources.

International Film Series

The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host a monthly international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free! The next film will be Honeyland, which tells the story of the last female beehunter in Europe, who must save the bees and return the natural balance in Honeyland. The film shown on Wednesday, August 28 at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center. Admission is FREE for students with a BuckID and offered at regular price to the public. Join the English Conversation Program

International and American students have the opportunity to expand their worldviews, improve their intercultural communication skills and make friends from different cultural backgrounds. Students will be put in groups of five or six based on their availability and diversity of background to meet throughout the semester for the purpose of having great conversations and experiences.

Ride Motorized Scooters Safely

Ohio State's Transportation and Traffic Management wants to alert students who choose to ride motorized scooters on campus that users need to follow the rules of the road, including:

Obeying traffic signs and signals
Not riding on sidewalks (including on the Oval)
Not wearing headphones while operating the scooter

The complete rules are available online as well as safety tips and parking guidelines.

ESL Course Available to Promote Fluency in English

EDUTL 5030 is an elective on spoken English for academic purposes for graduate and undergraduate international students who would like to increase fluency, build confidence and find their voice in typical academic situations, such as presentations and classroom interactions.

Lyft Ride Smart Replaces Safe Ride

A new Lyft Ride Smart program at Ohio State offers eligible students discounted rides from 9 p.m.-3 a.m. Each month, 10,000 discounted rides will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. The average cost is expected to be $2 or less. Once the monthly allotment of 10,000 discounted rides is exhausted, Lyft's normal service rates will apply for the remainder of the month. Ride Smart: visually confirm vehicle info in app, and ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
