A Message from Head of School, Dan Quesnel

Dear Oakwood Community,

It is hard to believe, but the start of Oakwood's 24th school year is nearly upon us.  I hope to see as many of you as possible at tomorrow's all-school assembly when we will continue several of my favorite traditions: welcoming the new students, honoring the seniors, ringing the bell to officially start the year, and announcing this year's theatrical production.

Campus is looking fantastic and is ready for the arrival of our students thanks to the dedicated efforts of our maintenance staff and our faculty who have been working tirelessly to prepare for the start of school.  The Upper School parking lot is looking a bit more colorful and artistic this week as well as a result of the seniors painting their parking spaces.  If you have not been to OASES recently, please stop by the next time you are on campus as it is in full bloom, complete with towering and bright yellow sunflowers dominating the view.  On Saturday evening, please plan to attend the Back to School Kick-Off party as the PSA has put together a fantastic celebration of the new school year with food trucks, a petting zoo, a mechanical bull, face painting, and a host of other activities for the whole family.

If you were not able to make the parent training session earlier this week for FACTS, our new school information system, we still have two more sessions next Wednesday, August 28 at 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in Dr. Uveges's room in Founders' Hall.  FACTS promises to be much more user friendly than our previous system, so we are excited to use it and help everyone become acclimated to it.

Thank you for trusting your children and their education to Oakwood. As we enter the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue to fulfill our mission to instill in our students the strength of character, the creativity, and the wisdom to make a difference in the world.

Go Eagles!
Dan Quesnel
