Winter Break Housing Update
Dear Student,

I hope this message finds you well. Some of you have expressed frustration regarding housing options over winter break as the pandemic continues to affect travel plans, especially for international students. You have raised important concerns about housing insecurity, travel difficulties, and other personal considerations during this upcoming period.

I am writing to give you some updates on recent developments that will help alleviate your concerns and provide safe housing for you during the winter break.

Our residential communities will close for the fall semester at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 12. However, the University is offering housing for students who need it over the winter break. Students who need winter break housing will be placed in either area hotels (in double-occupancy rooms) or University-sponsored housing from the period of December 12, 2021 - January 8, 2022.

To request winter break housing, please complete this form before 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 21, 2021. You will be asked to indicate whether you are requesting housing based on housing insecurity; significant financial insecurity; identifying as an international student facing immigration, travel, and/or visa restrictions; or other extenuating health or safety circumstances.

Students approved for winter break housing will be assessed an added charge of $750 for the period. This amount is closely aligned with the daily rate used last year. The $750 charge will be posted to your student account and be payable via DEAC. For assistance with payment or account questions, please contact Student Financial Services

Please note that there are reduced University services during Winter Break, part of which includes the closure of the University. We expect to provide more details soon regarding dining services available to you during this period. Finally, we hope to incorporate winter break housing options into our regular planning for future years. We will communicate more information about those options as our plans are finalized.
