Dear City School District of New Rochelle Learning Community:
The City School District of New Rochelle understands that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many of our families in numerous ways. We thank you for your commitment to well-being and the health and safety of our students, families, faculty, and staff.
Each time a COVID-19 case has been confirmed in any of our schools, our school district has provided swift notifications to families. The goal has been to ensure that anyone in need of that notification is alerted in a timely fashion. However, we also have been told by families that some notifications, while intended to be helpful, have not been relevant to their families. This particularly has been the case if a family does not have a connection to a school where a COVID-19 case was identified.
In response, the school district is adjusting our notification protocols. They will continue to provide transparency while ensuring the most relevant audiences are provided timely COVID-19 alerts.
Moving forward, principals of each school where a COVID case is confirmed will send notifications to that school’s email list. If your family is not on your school’s email list, or if your email address has changed, please contact your school’s main office.
In addition, the school district today has introduced a data dashboard. It’s on our website at https://www.nred.org/o/nrps/page/covid-dashboard.
This information center will list all COVID-19 case notifications by school. This will provide families the ability to access the most recent and most accurate information regarding COVID-19 and their school’s community.
The school district also will continue to provide updates to our entire community regarding school district COVID-19 safety protocols and other important news. These will be provided via email, as well as at nred.org, the school district’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/NewRochelleSchools), and our Twitter account (@NewRochelleED).
We invite you to review an archive of COVID-19 notifications, safety protocols, and other helpful resources. Just visit the COVID Resource Center at nred.org. Click on “COVID Resource Center” at the top right of the webpage.
We remind you that students who are sick should stay home from school. This is to protect health in the school setting. In addition, the school district believes that COVID vaccinations are an important component of keeping our community safe. If you or a family member is in need of a COVID vaccination, please visit https://montefiorehealthsystem.org/NewRochelle. For information about being tested for COVID-19, visit this Westchester County Department of Health website.
Thank you, and thank you for your commitment to protecting the health and safety of our community.
Sincerely,
