Pet of the Week
This week we are highlighting our six-year-old Pit mix Roxy. Roxy came in as an owner surrender.

This is Roxy. Roxy has had a rough start in life, she is covered with scaring from her previous home. Some visible, some not. She is terrified of men, doesn't trust them. Here inside the shelter she is a nervous wreck, outside in the yard she is a totally different dog. There she is playful and happy. Roxy will need a quiet home with a patient, loving owner and no other pets. Someone will have it in their heart to adopt this tortured soul, maybe you?

Manna Resumes Food Rescue Program, Accepts Food Donations After Year-Long Hiatus
Manna Food Project has announced that it will resume its Food Rescue program as well as accept food donations from the public starting April 1, 2021. After a year-long suspension, this decision comes after diligently tracking community transmission of the virus.

The purpose of Manna’s Food Rescue program is to collect donated and surplus food each week from local grocery stores and businesses. These items range from soon-to-expire canned goods, discontinued and overstocked items, day-old breads and baked goods, prepared food from restaurants, and produce naturally being rotated off the shelves, all of which would otherwise go to waste. By diverting this food from the landfill, Manna not only fills hungry bellies but also reduces food waste in the community—about half a million pounds each year, accounting for approximately 25 percent of the food they distribute. To see the full press release click HERE.

For more information on Manna’s Food Rescue program or preferred food donations, visit HERE, or call their office at 231.347.8852.

It's Official! HomeAgain Resale Store to Open Soon!
Important notice to Animal Lovers and friends of the Charlevoix Area Humane Society. The Charlevoix Area Humane Society is opening a unique “Upscale” resale retail store titled “HomeAgain” in Charlevoix County, 118 Water Street in downtown Boyne City. This store will be distinctively characteristic in its clientele and donor market, as we are not interested in competing with the current and very worthy cause resale stores in the area.

The Charlevoix Area Humane Society’s resale store HomeAgain, will be unique in that the inventory will be higher-end home accessories, art, collectible items, new and distinctive items not found in other resale stores. HomeAgain, our Shelter Store will not be a “bargain store” concept, but rather a good deal on great quality items, for a great cause.

We have been considering and working on this concept for a good number of years now, and feel this is the right time~ We are asking you to keep the idea in your thoughts, as you consider tax-deductible goods (and services) you can contribute to the cause. Our objective is to create a consistent and reliable revenue generator to support the mission of the CAHS in saving lives and finding loving homes for animals in need.
