State Chamber Update
I wanted to focus my message this week on one of my favorite programs here at the State Chamber – Delaware Principal for a Day. Recognizing a need to foster working relationships between business leaders and educators, the State Chamber created the Delaware Principal for a Day program to provide the business community an opportunity to spend the day in a Delaware school carrying out the daily responsibilities of a principal. Since its inception in 1993, the program has facilitated more than 1,700 school visits.

Last year, I had the opportunity to visit one school in each county – Glasgow High, Laurel Middle and Mispillion Elementary School. Each visit was incredibly unique and allowed me to see firsthand the individual needs of each school and its students. That is why this program is so important. The students of today are tomorrow’s workforce. We have to work together to prepare our students to be ready for college, technical training or skills that will launch them into careers that are satisfying and financially rewarding. And that starts by partnerships like the ones created through Principal for a Day.

This year, we have 110 schools are participating statewide. They include public, private, charter and parochial schools. Help us match every school with a business leader. Sign up today and meet YOUR future workforce!
