Teacher Gift of Time
Ms. Schmitt has continued to be a shinning light for Lakehill.
When choosing her Teacher Gift of Time for this past auction, sixth and eighth grade English teacher Elizabeth Schmitt decided that offering to take the winner and a friend to see the live-action Mulan on its opening day, March 24, would be perfect. Then the lockdown happened. “I kept watching for a new release date and, of course, when movie theaters would be allowed to reopen, “said Schmitt. “When Disney decided to postpone the release indefinitely, I wanted to reach out to the winners with a treat. Plus, I haven’t seen my students face-to-face since March.”
Last week, Schmitt dropped by the houses of rising freshmen Reese Armentrout and Sophia Demarco to deliver bubble tea and a Mulan poster. “I baked chocolate chip cookies, too," she added, “because everything goes better with cookies.”
“We were able to catch up while physically distancing. It was great talking to them both. I can’t wait to deliver the poster and treats to Emily Deason, the sixth grade winner.
Ms. Schmitt has continued to be a shining light for Lakehill, its students, and the community.
