Change

Scripture Reading: Matthew 15, 16-20

We work hard to keep our appearances attractive through   exercise, dieting, makeup etc. But what is deep down in our heart? You know the one place that others can't, see? It is the area that is most important to God. What are you like inside? When people  become   Christians, God makes them different on the inside. He will continue the process of change inside them if they only ASK. God wants us to have healthy thoughts and motives, not just healthy bodies.

Change has affected us all this year. Some are without jobs, others have lost everything they own due to fires, flooding, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Still others have lost the most  precious pieces of their lives; family members due to COVID and other  illnesses. Yet, somehow, we SURVIVED! And along the way, we were given many blessings.. Our  families became closer during lockdown, enhancing creativity in our households as our working adults conducted work from home. We experienced "virtual" instruction” and    parents with children became teachers and entertainment concierges as they struggled to provide for their families among the life changes set before them.....and we Survived!

"Zoom" became a word that meant more than going fast. Facial masks became a mandate and for the first time in my life, I was determined to be an essential worker, and had to carry proof in my car, in case I was on the road and was pulled over.

Our stress levels rose. Depression and worry seemed to occupy our minds daily. Yet, how many of us increased our prayer time? God, tells us in Matthew 15:16-20 that it is imperative that we communicate our thoughts and needs to Him. Just as He sent Gabriel to speak with Zechariah and Mary, our God meets all of our needs. We just need to keep our faith and trust in the Lord. It is important for us to change the inside of our hearts, asking God f or His strength to open our minds and accept His instructions.   As the pandemic travels throughout our communities, there are several ways you can help. Get vaccinated if you are able, wear a mask, Pray to God for his help in changing your heart. But, above all, Follow the words of our Lord!

Remember, we are survivors of many changes this past year, and with God providing us His strength we can make positive choices for our future.

PRAYER: Father, I love and respect all You have offered me. Please continue helping me to realize the importance of changing my heart and filling it with respect and  kindness. Amen.
