Join us this Sunday!
Acts 4:32-35
The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.  33 With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.  34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold.  35 They laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

Weekly Prayer Calendar
Our Heavenly Father, We thank you for the wonderful staff you have given us and praise you for all they have already done. Now we ask your blessings on (staff member's name) that you would continue their spiritual growth, giving them the wisdom, creativity and strength they need for their position. Please continue to guide them in their planning. We also ask you bless their families and loved ones who tolerate their unusual hours and duties.  Also bless those whose lives they touch keeping them open to your message. In His precious name we pray. Amen.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are seeking a Sanctuary Steward (or two) to keep the sanctuary looking spiffy, organized, and well-stocked with sharp pencils, offering envelopes, and prayer cards.

MOUNTAIN CATHEDRALS - Saturday July 20 at 8:00 am
The July Mountain Cathedrals hike will be an easy walk (~2 miles) in the Albuquerque Bosque, celebrating some of the wonders near the Rio Grande. After gathering at St. John's, we'll drive to near the Campbell entrance (cross street Trellis). Watch the weather (will probably be warm). Binoculars for waterfowl may be useful and sun protection is a must. For information call Mike Furnish at 884-6626.

INCREASE YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WORD
If you feel the need in your life for a greater understanding of God’s word, sign up for the Express version of the Bethel Bible Series, to begin in August. Bethel examines the major themes of the Bible, including the history of the nation of Israel, God’s plan for the salvation of the universe, and the ministry of Christ and the Church. How is the Crucifixion related to Leviticus? Make your reservations now, and find out in this class.

No previous knowledge of the Bible is necessary. Bethel starts at the beginning and builds each week on information presented in the class. Bethel Express (a St. John’s innovation) includes all of the original Bethel material in a ten-month format. The Bible is the major text, and a card park is designed to help you remember major biblical themes. Notebooks with supplementary material may also be ordered.

Note on class times: Karen Tidler will teach Bethel Express at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning August 14. A second class, taught by Regina Hunter and Terri Link, may be added at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, depending on demand and last-minute classroom availability.

Sign up Sunday in the Welcome Center, or ask Karen, 239-0291, ktidler@comcast.net, or Regina, 294-2877, drhunter@nmia, for more information.

Mission & Outreach

WAYS WE CAN SERVE
See what’s happening in July for missions at St. John’s! Come by the Hospitality Center to pick up your copy.

JULY SPECIAL OFFERING - Zuni Elementary School
St. John’s has had a special relationship with Zuni Elementary School next door for many years. We have purchased school supplies and backpacks for children who can’t afford them. Sometimes counselors set up a little store and let children choose what they need. We have also provided copy paper and other supplies for teachers and a variety of reading books for their classrooms. Finally, at the beginning of each school year, St. John’s hosts a very popular Back to School luncheon for the teachers and staff.
Mr. Rogers used to sing “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood”…and end with an invitation…”Won’t you be my neighbor?” Yes, it is a beautiful day in Albuquerque and at St. John’s. And this is our chance to continue to be good neighbors. Please give generously.

FAMILY PROMISE HOSTING
St. John's will be hosting families from July 28 - Aug 4. Volunteers with a variety of skill sets needed. We needs meal providers, evening conversationalists, people who can sleep at the church, and shifts on Saturday, Aug. 3. Please stop by the Hospitality Center and the Abide service to sign up from June 25 - July 21. If you have questions contact Linn Furnish by phone or email 505-884-6626 or swimsew@comcast.net OR Jenn Shields by phone or email 505-450-9978 or jennshields200@yahoo.com.

SILVER HORIZONS SPECIAL SUMMER COLLECTION

THE STOREHOUSE
During the month of July, let's think about the many children in our community who won't have the benefit of the school lunch program for at least another six weeks. As you shop this month for The Storehouse, please think "high protein" for such items as: Nutrigrain bars; protein bars; individual packages of nuts; individual peanut butter/cheese snack crackers; fruit cups; shelf-stable tuna pouches or tuna lunch kits. Also, jars of peanut butter and boxes of powdered milk are always appreciated. Thanks for your generous donations, and please place them in the wire baskets located in the Hospitality Centers.
